Posted - Feb 15 2003 : 11:14:06 Looks like you have to buy the silly hardware but... it is less than the cost of most games for less than $25 @ buy.com
Check out the differences between Share and the full version here (It also describes the limitation that Medi was talking about) |

Posted - Feb 15 2003 : 09:14:03 And those of us who know things, know that the original BattleCom crew were hired away by GameVoice to operate their stuff.
Question..........do you have to buy that silly piece of hardware or can you just buy a software license? |

Posted - Feb 15 2003 : 05:19:49 In my ever so humble but knowledgable opinion the only voice chat program that is as good as if not a wee bit better is M$ gamevoice. The obvious downside to that is that 1 out of 4 of us would have to pay a license (1 paid license allows 4 freeloaders ). Also it is absolutely the easiest one to install and configure. |

Posted - Feb 14 2003 : 14:24:53 Thanks for the input, Patrick. I believe that I have a persistant RW server running (might be an older version tho).
I'll check it out tonight and report back. |

Posted - Feb 14 2003 : 12:44:37 avoid teamspeak (especially v2). our experience with it was that when it was up various folks would just crash out, usually in a match at the worst possible time (you know, you are the flanker and suddenly discover that their whole team is hiding shut down in ambush...)
CMO is running on rw for now. you might also note that that is what the Chikens use. some sound cards have a cow with it, but otherwise it seems to not crash folks. |

Posted - Feb 14 2003 : 11:30:43 It isn't listed Myo, but I have it installed and ready to go.
Would you like me to run it? No big deal to enable it. |

Posted - Feb 14 2003 : 10:38:15 That's almost the only reason why I still run Win98SE at all. |

Posted - Feb 14 2003 : 09:28:26 I haven't tried it, but I'd be willing to give a go sometime.
Battlecom and Win2k don't seem to coexist very well on my machine. |

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 18:45:17 Skirt? I have no intention of skirting the instructions! I read the instructions and it just don't like me. I know it. My win2K hates me because I put Red Hat 8.0 on it. |

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 15:02:22 I must be lame then.... oh, the shame... I can't get it to run right for me anymore...
Actually, until my wife takes a more favorable view of my talking to the computer, I can't use any voice software except to listen. |

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 14:53:59 I have no problems with Bcom, you just got to set it up right.

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 10:47:55 IMO, Bcom has the best sound quality. I know its quirky as hell but it seems once you get things set up right it stays fairly stable.
Peace

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 10:31:42 Hey Petri... that sounds like... BATTLECOM
You know... I have a lot of different VoiceChat servers running (or have in the past). The only one that gets used is BCOM.
Aged, Festus, Batty, and I tried to drive a switch to TeamSound awhile back but couldn't generate any excitement from the club.
I have TeamSpeak, Roger Wilco, GameVoice, TeamSound, and BattleCom servers or services available. Check the Members forum and the Own/Operated topic. |

Posted - Feb 13 2003 : 08:20:45 Then I think we need to have a general assemply, announcement, and proclomation followed by a period of UN inspec... wait, what are we talking about?
It would be nice to use a different application. Something that has good quality, works well with games, and is free. |
