Posted - Mar 03 2003 : 16:48:33 Actually i get little or no lag at all. Even on satellite. Of course when I play on satellite the only thing I notice is the delay when I tell my ships to move, for instance, there's about 1/2 second delay before they start to move. You actually get use to it. But little or no lag at all. |

Posted - Mar 03 2003 : 15:35:50 I am not a man of the 90's in touch with my feminine side. I am not a man of the 70's with my polyester and gold chains.... I am however a product of the 80's and quite frankly if it feels good.. go with it :D
She can rev my motor anytime :D and btw personality? Don't they sell that by the bottle nowadays? :D |

| HEARTBURN-OMO |
Posted - Feb 28 2003 : 14:13:16 well, on satellite, took me 1.45 seconds, actually real time was about 3 seconds. Imust have some serious problems with my IP, I'll check it out. |

Posted - Feb 28 2003 : 10:18:15 ... or we could use PostNuke with the PNphpBB2 module added in.

Posted - Feb 27 2003 : 10:40:21 Well, strictly technically speaking... cursor blink and typing of password is 100% client side. There is no interaction between the server and client for these actions. As far as the password is concerned the interaction between the server and client is only after you press the login button.
This isn't like the old teletype or 3270 emulation days were every typed character on the screen goes to the server before echoing on the screen.
It is starting to take a long time for the server to crunch through the forums though. What I might do is disable the siggys for a day or so to see if that isn't part of the problem. If it is we can migrate everyones siggys local. That should speed things up.
If not it may be that we need to upgrade to MS-SQL or dump the whole thing and go back to ezboard or move to a hosting company or move to PostNuke or ... |

Posted - Feb 27 2003 : 03:47:12 1.14 seconds to load this thread.
.86 seconds to load the post form.
.62 seconds to load the main forum page
.14 seconds to load the user profile password section but i swear here more than anywhere else it takes more time for the cursor to blink or allow a password to be typed than anyplace else.

Posted - Feb 26 2003 : 18:57:50 Arcane, it took me 1.39 seconds to load this and other pages, Takes a out a third of a second to go back to the forums. Does that help you? Does get a little irritating to sit and wait and wait. Can you do anything? |

Posted - Feb 26 2003 : 18:46:31 Hmmm... I don't have the problem either Ring and that is the first time anyone has commented...
Can you do me a favor and tell me what the times are at the bottom of the page? For example this page says for me "This page took 0.75 seconds to load". It is an actual indication of how long it took the server to hack through all the .asp and then ship it to the client.
If it is the same then maybe there is a problem between my ISP and yours.
There is always the possibility that linking all these .gifs from other locations is impeding proper response times. If that looks to be the case I'll have to figure out a better way to host siggys and stuff...
Oh and let us work through the Avatar thing. The first one was over the top and could have gotten me fired from work as well. New forum, so there will be some growing pains as we sort out what is "appropriate". Thanks for being such a sport and not getting all pissed of at us. |

Posted - Feb 26 2003 : 18:22:35 Dunno actually. Maybe Aged could shed some light there - I don't quite have that problem. By the way, you can have a different avatar. I just would like to keep my job (and wife - who is less understanding). |
