I still have GW installed... but rarely play due to not having anybody to play with.

Glad to see Star Craft up there. Looking at that list, it would appear Blizzard is a solid company as far as income goes.

I agree with Bloody (although, WAR does have a strong following from the tabletop game). I think a lot of people playing WAR now are there because, a lot of WoW players were getting burned out and AoC just didn't deliver on its promise (a shame, that one had so much potential).

I wanted to like WAR. I bought the pre-order for it, which gave me access to the open beta. I just wasn't impressed. It has some really good ideas and it definately isn't a WoW clone. Graphics are beautiful. Animations seemed rather LOTRO-like in my opinion, though.

I do think WotLK will syphon off players when it hits the shelves. I've been enjoying the new patch a lot. The WotLK talents trees are open now, as well as, the class changes. My druid can now use roots indoors, has an out of combat rez and balance spec now has an interupt too - basically all the goodies needed to make Mawgren desirable in a group instead of comic relief.

Warhammer is popualr because of all the closet nerds that played the table top game that bought the game. Remember that sales does not equal satisfaction. Sales does, however, equal good marketing and hype.

Note that EVE Online is 3rd on the list, yet has been out for 5 years, whereas the top 2 have been out for less than a year.

I can say it, cause it does suck. lol I just didn't like it at all. It has some good concepts and such, but in my opinion, the only reason it's as big as it is right now is cause of the lack of other games compeating with it at the moment. WoW is long in the tooth and AoC is broken. I figure once the new expansion comes out for WoW, WAR numbers will drop like dying flies in winter. IMHO.


As for the number one game, Spore is really a good game and not too suprised to see it at the top. However, I can only assume it will have a rapid drop in the polls unless the first expansion is really cheap. ;)


Far Cry 2 is THE game for Oct. and then like Medicated said, on to COD5 WaW.

I love to play Project Torque. Far as other MMO games, not really. Ive tried the demos and never really like any of em. I did like some RTS games but not many of the group played them. Homeworld will never be topped in my opinion. I wish we all still played. Far Cry 2 has my eye now. Then COD WAW.

The number 2 game, WARHAMMER BABY! How can you all say it sucks when it's the 2nd most bought game in Sept? Best MMO out there right now, I just made officer in an all dwarf guild that has 100 members and growing, it's blast when you see us all comming down the hill in our gyro copters and taking keeps with our siege weapons.

Spore Outsells Microsoft Office: September's 20 Best-Selling PC Games Revealed

Rollings its weekly PC sales charts into one giant monthly bundle, the NPD Group has released a list of the 20 best-selling PC games at U.S. retailers across September.

Recent releases such as Spore, Warhammer Online, Crysis Warhead and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky all made strong debuts, with classics such as The Sims 2, World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Warcraft III and Diablo continuing to sell well.

Unlike the regular console sales charts, no hard figures were provided, though NPD yesterday revealed that the regular edition of Spore sold 406,000 units and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning hit 274,000. Had the two been factored into the console sales chart, Spore would have ranked third while WAR would be eighth.

Along with the other data, NPD also provided a list of the month's best-selling PC software, which showed that Spore outsold the perennial chart-topper Microsoft Office.
