Posted - Nov 09 2008 : 18:13:05 I have to wonder about that World In Conflict score. I have the GTX280 and it plays WIC at 100 FPS and will play everything at about that or higher on full mazed out settings. Same resolution too (1920X1200) |

The 280 came in second .....
World in Conflict...several have played this one...

While the 280 wins...but only with SLI, the single 280 is in 11th place! With 32.8 FPS....barely playable!
The 9800GT this thread is about gives about 15 to 17 FPS With max settings!
So to sum it up...I was bored. Hope it helps someone make a good selection. And always buy with a free game included!
Did I thread jack again?...You can shoot me in game!

Posted - Nov 09 2008 : 13:37:51 Good card, but not much better than a 9600 GT. Mine scored over 13000 on 3Dmk06. The 9800GT has 112 pipes compared to 96 on the 9600GT. Newegg's prices are about the same for both...its a toss up. Id spend the extra money and get at least a 9800GTX+ (128 pipes)or 260 (192 cores). Then your good for at least a year or so and wont have to worry about frame rates for a while. Lowest price on newegg for 260 is $264 with Far Cry 2. So, your 260 is the most cost effective with a game thrown in. (one you may not already have that is.) You could get a recertified 9800 GX2 for $219....hummm. Its as fast as the 200 series in several games too. |
