I meant to post this yesterday, but got distracted. (That's becoming far too easy...)

Anyway, yesterday would've been Terry Kath's 77 birthday. Sadly, he accidentally shot himself in the head 7/23/1978. His last words, "What do you think I'm gonna do? Blow my brains out?"



The first concert I ever attended was when Chicago played at Cole Field House in College Park, MD. I played saxophone and, so for me, Chicago was about the horns. I was super psyched when our middle school band teacher got the music for 25 or 6 to 4 for our springtime pops concert.

So at the time, I didn't appreciate the amazing guitar work that was going on at center stage.

Well, I do now.

The song had lots of urban legends about its meaning. Some said it was a reference to drugs and it was banned in Singapore from 1970 - 1993, as a result. Another was that it was code for some individual. My favorite was that it was about waking up next to a girl and trying to figure out how to get out without waking her.

In reality, it's about writer's block and insomnia.
