Still keeping an eye on CoD6 forum. Once you get past all the post by kids with ADD, the folks who took time to write a good review pretty much echo what Bloody said.

Not to mention the growing number of post showing hacks/cheats on PC now. Much worse than any CoD lunch I can remember.

In the end WaW turned out to be the best polished game imho. Hope they don't screw up CoD7, still no word on DS or not, has me concerned.

I agree, not interested in a short $60.00++ SP game. Heck, Fear 2 is out there for less with a much better story line.

Bloody Posted - Nov 16 2009 : 06:53:58
Your very lucky if your pings are 60 - 70 ms.

On average, I don't even get put into games at less than 90-100 ms, and then usually it goes down to 120-160 ms (using that 10 bar hack to see true ping helps see).

The 4 bar system they used is smart cause people don't realize just how high their actual ping is. That 10 bar hack shows the truth much better. If I have a decent 60-100 ping I can own people and be at the top of the boards, but normally I have huge pings and it's a struggle to even break even.

And as for people that say "just join another server", lol Well, that's kinda hard when world wide there are only a few thousand people on line and as for closer "low ping" games, it's usually zero servers available. Sometimes you get lucky with one server, but that's maybe 10% of the time.

Just don't buy the game new folks. I would say that the single player is maybe worth $10 (if it runs without freezing all the time) and the rest is maybe worth another $10 at best.

And you can start a passworded game and let your friends only play with ya...too bad we wont experience that. Still it is a great war game. I play the Open War servers and it has to have 12 to 18 players to start. To be honest, once your in game I cant see a problem with lag. But I have had a few disconnects and server relocations to keep it from lagging i assume. My pings have been 60 to 70 and around 84 fps. Check Amazon for your used copies guys. The weapons are all works of art and the feel is correct.

I got a used PC copy from my neighbor who bought it day one and was livid about the lack of good servers. He sold me the game for $15 after playing for a day and a half.

Anyway, the game is OK. I don't want to go into a full review, but this is how it breaks down for me.

1) Single player is too short, story is bad at best, but missions are fun. PC version, for me at least, is very glitchy. It stalls, it hangs, it crashes, etc. I have a top in PC that plays everything smoothly, so not sure what the issue is.

2) Co Op seems fun, but with random people it's not great.

3) MP is fun because of it's maps, weapons, perks, etc. However, without the luck of the draw and having a super good server selected for you, your gonna lag. Without 4 bars your going to lag either a little or a huge amount. Sometimes you lag so bad that things happen that you never even see until the kill cam replay.

All in all the game would have been brilliant and a true 9-10 score had they had proper servers, PB instead of VAC through Steam, and a decent story and a bit longer SP.

Even with all the issues I would still give it a 7-8 score, but no way I would spend $60 (or even $40) on the game.

You are 100 percent correct Festus. PC petitions against console port games are meaningless. PC gamers have no leverage at all. I believe in taking a stand on principle but this was a lost cause. I found the boycott and petition to be just a poorly instituted protest that made PC gamers weaker in the long run. MW2 is not the best game ever for a PC but I am sure it is decent and most gamers, PC and Console players will enjoy playing it. PC gamers need to get off their high horse and realize where they fall in the landscape of gaming. Would it be nice if PC titles always allowed direct servers? Yes. However, why should a company care what we want? The number of PC gamers that will buy the game without Direct Servers generates plenty of revenue considering the console sales. Services like IWnet linked with Steam is the future. Just wait until the next Gen consoles arrive. It will get worse............... I say, enjoy the moment this time around. The fight is over. Buy games and enjoy playing them with friends. In time the consoles and PC will finally merge into one device and we will all look back and say, "It was for the best". I believe in the free market system but this was not the time to flex our free market muscle. We would be better served to support independent PC titles if we truly want Direct Servers. I say boycott Bad Company 2 because it will be a console port. I am sure that will teach them!!!!!!!!! Oh wait....maybe it won't? LOL

It's going to be pretty hard to convince these companies that they are wrong (ie. for the PC MP support) when the game sells so well (links to quoted articles in parentathese);

"The lack of dedicated servers for the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 upset computer gamers enough to start a petition, which has reached almost 180,000 signatures at the time of this post, up from 96,000 when we first covered the story two weeks ago. Unfortunately for PC gamers—as evidenced on a pretty nifty Amazon pre-order page detailing MW2 pre-orders (thanks Kotaku)—the PC version accounts for a small amount of sales versus its console brethren.

Modern Warfare 2 has sold 1.23m copies in the UK in one day, smashing the previous record set by Grand Theft Auto IV (631,000 units).

That performance made Activision around £47m, whereas Rockstar made only £27.2m. "These first day sales figures are astonishing and clear evidence that videogames are now mainstream in the UK," said Michael Rawlinson, boss of data collector ELSPA/GfK-ChartTrack. Modern Warfare 2 was released yesterday, on Tuesday 10th November. Our review is clear and visible to all.

According to internal figures released by Activision, opening day sales for its heavily-anticipated game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 smashed records, generating $310 million in 24 hours in North America and the U.K. to become the "the biggest launch in history across all forms of entertainment." And that's simply staggering, as the U.S. and U.K. figures alone dwarf both the record-setting $150 million opening weekend of last year's "The Dark Knight" and the $300 million earned by fellow first-person shooter, Halo 3, in its first week.

"We estimate that Modern Warfare 2 could have sold up to approximately 7 million units at worldwide retail in its first day," Schachter said in his note to investors. "In addition, with GTA IV selling-through 6 million units worldwide in its first week, that suggests week one of Modern Warfare 2 worldwide sell-through could approximate 11.7 million."

In essence, The CONSOLE market dwarfs the PC market. I think that Quality PC games, that aren't console ports, are going to be harder and harder to find.

its a lot of fun and theres a private match setting i havent used yet. Weapons take about 10 min to get used to, your ranking and perks come on quickly (well, mine are)..I have no real complaints but without others i know to play with im reserving a rating other than..

Still Fun
Expired-OMO Posted - Nov 14 2009 : 08:32:13
From every thing I have read the multiplayer is very good but with ONE BIG EXCEPTION. if you are lucky enough to get on a server and have 4 bars for connection speed then its great, 3 bars and it's so so and below that forget it. Some interesting info about some of the reviews floating around, a lot were done under strict control by Infinity Ward and in no way was it honest. Any of the reviews you read that rate the on-line play higher than 50% didn't actually play it under normal conditions.

I will be passing on it till they either fix it [very unlikely] or until the price drops after it's been out for a while.
Fossil-OMO Posted - Nov 14 2009 : 05:25:14
I have a buddy of mine at work who bought it for the the Xbox and said the single player was amazing, I asked about the part where you play as an undercover agent in a terrorist cell that goes around a mall and shoot civilians, he said you could opt out of that if you wanted to. I still think that's wrong on so many levels but I not going to judge other people for what they want to do in a video game.

anyone play the multiplayer yet?
medicated Posted - Nov 13 2009 : 00:24:57
Fun and sharp looking.

It was a video demonstration of the hacks provided by a site for MW2.
Fossil-OMO Posted - Nov 11 2009 : 19:18:58
your link is all broken and stuff...
TLBFestus Posted - Nov 11 2009 : 15:50:53
Here's another educational video about why you don't want to get this game;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MdSwgKtSYg

Demonstrates the hacks you can buy. Keep in mind that with no dedicated servers, you are going to have a bitch of a time kicking these assclowns. If you're lucky there will be one of those "highly effective" vote options.

TLBFestus Posted - Nov 11 2009 : 01:10:50
Nope. Currently at interest level zero.

Fossil-OMO Posted - Nov 10 2009 : 17:59:15
So, did anyone get this today?

Bloody Posted - Oct 28 2009 : 20:20:48
What a tool.

Funny part is this would have been the biggest game of the year, and maybe of the last few, if IW had just left the dedicated servers in. It will be interesting to see what the talk is after the game launches. My guess is it will be all xbox kids yapping about some kind of "unfair" tactics or weapons, etc. The dude in the video should fit right in with that crowd. lol
TLBFestus Posted - Oct 28 2009 : 15:32:13
Yet another possible reason that MW is going to lose customers.

Before viewing this, I'd let you know that the guy doing the talking in this clip is an absolute TOOL. He swears quite alot, and it's obvious his genes come from the shallow end of the gene pool (maybe even the skimmer bucket).

This video may not be up for long as IW has force some places to take it doen due to "copyright infringement".

Go Broncos and....

Yeah I will be getting BF:BC2 for sure (assuming they keep their word on dedicated servers).
