Okay folks here is one of the Top mods for homeworld 2. Homeworld universe is a mod that combines other mods and also the races from the series that all you space RTS fans have come to know and love from a younger age. Total number of races are at the moment 18 races while 14 of them are completely playable with full fleets and complete research trees. Races that you can playwith without issues are as follows:
Higgy, Vaggy, Kushan, Taiidan, Somtaaw, Beast, Beast evo, TUranics, Progenitor, Raiders Ascendant, PTV Kadeshi, New Strain and Bounty Hunters. I have managed to get certain special attack abilities from hw 1 and cata to function in hw 2, so you will see the return of the Heavy Corvette burst strike, Missile VOlley for the MDs, Missile burst for the missile corvettes, SIege cannon for the somtaaw commandship. When you download the mod all you need to do is put the HWU big into your data folder and put the HWU icon on your desktop, now if your homeworld 2 install location is different from the icons target location you will need to get it to match yours. When you load the mod for the first time you will notice that your main race boxes are empty and if you dont fill those in then game will Desktop when you load the map so click the blue drop down arrow next to the main race box and you will see the option that it will give you called choose from above, select that option for yourself and the AI you are using otherwise again the game will desk. Anyhow after that you should see a button up top called more options, click it to pick the race you want to play and change any other settings that you wish to alter. Races are assigned based on player positions, so if it says player 1 race up top it means position one so the person that has that position will get the race that is assigned to player 1. Messed up system i know but that is how it was designed. Anyways after all that click the launch button and you may have to wait a few mins for the load bar to finish this mod has a lot of stuff in it and it is over 2GB uncompiled, anyways i also did a bunch of HW 1 to Hw 2 maps by hand via missionboy SE so enjoy and here is the link.

Also before i forget the rar file comes with a autoexec file this file is meant to display the in game clock as well as show your allies RU amount so just stick this file into your bin folder and you are done with that one. And lastly i removed debris spawning from the playable races with the exception of the scaffold which spawns scaffold debris so that becomes part of the sceney.

you will need to modify your HW 2 shortcut on your desktop to include this in your shortcut target line.

This is how mine looks like.

Changes int he mod so far.
Shadow has harvest beam animations working and he got permission to add in Sands of Time so that race is in thou needs editing. FIxed the errors that were showing up so that has been dealt with.

Gameranger doesnt do mods sadly would be nice if it did so i use hamachi to play wtih my buddys unless someone can host in gamespy which i cant -_-. Anyways Hamachi server i have set up for HWU is HWU & SF

I am and still interested. Let me know when the HWU in complete before I try and tackle the install. Also, I have HW2 somewhere, but a bit out of sorts with current living conditions (read:in between home ownership in adopted home town Boston). Living with the In laws OMG !!!!!!

The bin folder is inside your homeworld 2 folder . All you have to do is move the Autoexec into the bin folder and the HWU big file into your data folder and the HWU icon on your desktop.
