Well, thats pretty much it. We designed a league that is all one-on-one, sometimes requires stock mechs, and in the end there can be only one. Take a look and participate if you would like. We would love to have one or more of you enjoy putting our individual piloting skills to the test. I'll post the rules so you can look through it to get the feel of the dynamic, and see if you are interested...Thanks and we hope to see you in the ring...
~Gladiator Challenge~
League Purpose and Rules of Combat
League Purpose- Gladiator Challenge is a Mech Warrior Mercenaries League designed to ultimately test the piloting skills of the Mech Warrior through “one on one” combat only, with an attempt at leveling the playing field with his opponent by placing them in identical mechs. This tests the pilots knowledge and skills in all mechs and weapons, and requires him to be able to fight in any way necessary for ultimate victory. One Warrior will advance to the next level, the other will be eliminated. In the end, there can be only one.
Gladiator Challenge Division Breakdown- There are six divisions in Gladiator Challenge, and a pilot may participate in one or all of them if he chooses. We encourage you to participate as much as you can handle. Gladiator Challenge consists of a Light Mech Division, a Medium Mech Division, a Heavy Mech Division, and an Assault Mech Division. These divisions will place an emphasis on stock mechs. Then there are the Mercs Freestyle Division and the Vengeance Freestyle Division (if there is enough interest), which will give you more freedom to choose your mech.
Rules of Combat- 1. Each match-up will consist of three 15 minute games. The winner of the best of three will advance to the next round 2. Match-ups will be chosen at random, some pilots may have a bye week, also chosen at random 3. It is the responsibility of the pilots involved to schedule the match and see that it is completed within 14 days. At that time both pilots will be eliminated, unless one pilot bows out to the other 4. Hot drop applies so be ready…and don’t call for backup cause it ain’t comin 5. Heat and limited ammunition applies 6. There are no rules concerning legging, chaining, etc….anything goes 7. Any map can be used as long as both pilots have it, as well as day or night…. The weather will be clear 8. Leaving and rejoining is not allowed and will result in forfeit of the match
Rules of Combat for the Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault Divisions 1. Three 15 minute rounds, winner of best of three advances 2. Each pilot will choose a map and time of day, and a stock mech which both pilots must use for that round. The third round will be Coliseum Day, and each pilot may choose any mech and loadout within the weight class of the division specified 3. Team Destruction rules will apply so that scoring is per kill only, and so that opponents do not spawn in the same drop zone
Rules of Combat for the Freestyle Divisions- 1. Three 15 minute rounds, winner of best of three advances 2. Each pilot will choose a map and time of day for one game, the third map will be Coliseum Day 3. Team Battle and Team Attrition rules apply so that smaller mechs can compete on a more level playing field, and so that opposing mechs do not spawn in the same drop zone 4. Any mech and loadout can be brought to these matches

Posted - Jun 27 2003 : 22:12:07 Well, that' part of the reason that we gave two weeks to get three 15 minute matches accomplished. It should only take about an hour and with summer time 2 weeks gives plenty of time to get a match done. Hopefully it will help people deal with vacations and kids, etc. |
