I am already really into it.
As some of you know, I level pretty well in MMOs. The first 10 levels have been somewhat slower than usual but very enjoyable at the same time due to the cinematic-story line. If you like any of Bioware's recent titles, then this should go over well for you.
The Heroic zones almost require you to be grouped unless you are levels above the NPCs. They are tough buggers.
The main problem with any MMO, but in particular an MMO which tries to have a rich story, is that development of the story always takes longer than the read through of the story itself. My impression is that as the characters level, the adherence to a strict story line is lessened until it is the characters driving the story - with great animated sequences for certain NPC quests. But of the latter, I do not know and can be confident that Bloody does not know as well - unless he is currently in Beta.

All players were given a level 40 today which I can play with when I get home, this will give me an idea of the story lines and immersion of the game at a higher level as well as the inevitable 'grind'.
The question is how well the game takes the sense of grinding out of the 'grind' itself.
So far, the immersion is excellent and superior to any other MMO I have played. Can't wait till I can test the space combat.

Ok Petri is this a MMO you could really get into? I have been watching this game for a long time now and from what Bloody is saying they really want you into the storyline if the grind is as long as he says.

Level 15 at present, so no idea how it progresses after that at present.

On the flip side, the Freedom expansion for City of Heroes is adding some interesting changes.

I have to admin that I actually got pretty bored when I was in the Alpha a while back. I played all classes (both sides) and some were better than others, but at some point they all got really boring to play. Too much grind and leveling got so long per level that it was like being in WoW when the 60-70 levels were a month or more long grind. Story is great for the classes and the conversation aspect is good, but it just isn't enough for me to buy it yet.

They need bigger diff. between classes. They need mounts at lower levels, as low as level 10 I would say. They need cross server "dungeon finder" for groups. They need to close the leveling gaps down after level 15 or so (too long to level).

I have suddenly found a game which scratches an itch I have had since Tabula Rasa was shut down
First impressions: I am really liking this game so far.

The Good and usual:
It takes place in a galaxy far, far away. So things are familiar.
If you have played any Bioware games in the last 5 years, you will notice the evolution of the character/NPC interaction continued in a cinematic style. Better is the inclusion of the entire party in conversations which can make for some interesting interactions and final outcomes if your group is not united on the final outcome. This seems to be working without issue so far.
The story line is familiar and you do see your usual hunt, gather, and deliver missions. But the personalization and deeper character interaction with the storyline makes this a step above your typical MMO.
Combat is quite fun so far. I find it static when compared to Tabula Rasa's targeting system.

The Bad:
The main issues are video and network lag. This may have to do with optimizations or my current Core 2 CPU which is 4 years old.
The network lag issue creates a huge drag on Warzone combat (PvP). Further comment on the wazone combat is not applicable until the lag is resolved, but it looks promising.
The game has a number of mission bugs, mostly related to absurdly long re-spawn timers for click able quest objectives. Easily fixed, but present.
Classes are inverse mirrors of the opposing faction. This seems fine so far, but some people may eventually want something more 'unique' for each side. Still, the quests are definitely different and not carbon copies.
