Unzip it into your /series/pta/cars/ folder
... and as for that picture you wanted.

Sorry, for the loss of the front airdam. The mod does that in replays for some reason. It's a known issue. |

Posted - Mar 13 2004 : 18:43:16 yes I reinstalled and everything works ok except I still can't get anything up on the screen except the mileper hour gauge on the left side of the steering wheel, the tach, oil, water amps. But, nothing else. Can't chat while racing, only in the lobby or in the game lobby. I can press T in a race and type, Once I hit enter it dissappears and everyone can read it, I can't read what everyone else is doing or saying. Frustrating as hell. |

Posted - Mar 09 2004 : 22:07:29 HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM...before I go do something stupid.. For some reason I can't get the in-race chat to work. I press T and the faded line comes up at the bottom and I can type something and it dissappears. The others can read it, I just can't read what they are telling me like pass low, etc. I also press "f" to check the frame rate because I tend to lag due to 56 k connection. It won't come up either. I went to options and checked and unchecked the box for online chat but nothing comes up. I've gone through all set up functions and can find nothing to get it up. I'm guessing I have an installation problem but before I remove the pgm and reinstall...any suggestions? By the way, it's never worked since I installed. |

Posted - Mar 09 2004 : 07:28:37 drafting is done by learning how to stay within a hair of theirbumper, with "speerence". then that allows for bump drafting as you learn, of course that pisses alot of ppl when i do that and they have never "speerenced" it before :)
HB you also need to upload our cars so that you'll be able to view them during the races , i have just freed up my eveings so that i can get back online more constitantly |

Posted - Mar 09 2004 : 05:30:49 Your right. experience is most important. I do get down into the high 46's in drafts mainly low 47's. I understand smooth cornering, staying on the little green line, not moving the steering wheel while running down the backstretch. Only problem I have is those yahoos that like to wreck, or can't wait to pass someone the first half lap after starting. Last night I qualified 4th in a field of 19. One dumba__ apparently pulled off after the start and waited for the leaders to make one lap, then pulled out in front and crashed about 10 of us. I bet he was proud. |

Posted - Mar 08 2004 : 18:30:05 Mid 47's in race or qualifying? Mid 47's in race trim isn't awesome. I've run mid 46's in a good draft (i.e. 3-5 cars) in a race. I have yet to crack 47 in qualifying (though I've gotten close on a 40 degree track).
That setup is a race setup, not a qualfiying one.
Pace is right speed comes from (as DW would say) "speerence". Stay smooth entering, through and exiting the turns. Above all, stay up on their bumpers. |

Posted - Mar 08 2004 : 18:17:17 Heartburn, please allow me to explain, alot of the TOP speed is expierience only. smoothnes in the corners is a big help, ex= alot of the tracks especially smaller tracks i wil bleed speed off in the corners partly by the way i steer

Posted - Mar 08 2004 : 14:17:46 Thanks David, I ran a 5 lap test run with the 4 setups below. The one for Pacey is one I pulled of the website under settings, though I know it was an older version and I couldn't make some of the changes he suggested. The Jasper Low is one I have played with mainly with lower gears, etc. Drive this one most of the time. FastLow, is just another attempt at getting a faster speed with a different setup. Not much luck there. Of course, the setup you gave me is much faster and very easy to handle. After the test I went online and joined a race with 15 others. Ran 48.389 in qualifying and ended up in 9th over all. The top 7 were in the low to middle 47.000's. What else can I do to get to that speed? Any suggestions?

Posted - Mar 07 2004 : 20:44:17 Oops, typo
It'll work now. Sorry.
Heartburn, most likely you either don't have enough gear or too much spring in the front.
This setup is pretty good. If it still can't keep up, add some more gear to it. I've got about 5 different versions of it depending on how much gear I need. |

Posted - Mar 07 2004 : 18:51:05 Aged, I have no problems controlling it. The setting I have now I can wind up to about 180-181 in the straight and coming off the final turn to the flag. Problem is I just don't have the horsepower to keep up with the pack. Occasionally I can depending on the server but most of the time I run right behind the pack and slowly over 4-6 laps I get left behind. It's not my driving either because I've become very good at that part especially pacing behind another. Just can't run with them even drafting. |
