Posted - Jan 28 2003 : 15:28:57 Thank you for your e-mail to Intuit. My name is Mike with Intuit's Executive Response Team, and I would like to respond to your e-mail about your concerns in using our product. By working together with our customers, it is our intent to establish clear, identifiable solutions to your questions and concerns.
First and foremost, I am sorry for the delay in responding to your comments. Second, I gather that you are giving up on TurboTax because of the misconception that the product installs spy ware, among other activation issues.
We hope that the loyal Turbo Tax customers continue to stay informed with the correct information about what C-Dilla does. It holds the license for the software product installed. That is all it does. The C-Dilla program can be uninstalled after the completion of filing taxes. The activation file is created by TurboTax install to only monitor the use of TurboTax. The file does remain on your computer after the TurboTax program is uninstalled. This was a conscious decision on our part.
You can delete Macrovision SafeCast® (C-Dilla) folders and components associated with TurboTax. An uninstall utility is available on our support site at <http://www.turbotaxsupport.com/default.asp?platform=1&DocID=836>
If you reinstall TurboTax after October 15, 2003, you will not need to purchase a new product license. TurboTax 2002 products that currently require product activation will be activated free of charge, thus allowing anyone to install TurboTax on any computer without needing to purchase a product license. (Example: You activate TurboTax on your home computer and complete your taxes in March of 2003. The following December, you install TurboTax on a new computer. Because you installed TurboTax after October 15, you will not need to purchase a product license.)
Although I can understand the concern based on some of the misinformation, the activation file does not collect any information about you, your use of your computer or devices. It transmits no information to us except a random number generated during the activation process, which is associated with your specific activation code and your computer. The number is random and provides absolutely no information that can ever be tied to any personally identifiable information about you or any other user. For more information on the product activation facts, please visit us at <http://www1.turbotaxsupport.com/default.asp?platform=1&formName=&pd=&fs=&ve r=&sku=&id=&DocID=815>.
You are a valued customer and your opinion matters. I hope this information answers your concerns. If I can answer any additional questions that you may have please let me know. Thanks again for your input.
Sincerely,
Mike Executive Response Team Intuit Inc.
I am wondering if this is correct ??/
