Posted - May 18 2006 : 09:34:47 Last night while playing BF2 my monitor kept going blank and then the computer would lock-up. Must have happened four or five times... then I switched to another machine.
Guess I'll swap monitors and see if it still happens, then swap out the video card.
Any other ideas? Might have been the temperature, it was around 80 degrees in the computer room last night. Maybe I need an air conditioner.
Thanks!

Posted - May 18 2006 : 09:48:06 The video card is certainly a first stop in diagnosing the problem. Check the cooling on your card and make sure it's seated in the connector ok. Cooling is overlooked (even by manufacturers). I used an alternative(more efficient) cooler on my 7800GTX and even supplemented that with an additional internal fan.
Next: Ensure that your power supply is not entering it's 'fade out' days. Check that it's output voltages are consistant and within specification (most easily done by substituting a known good PSU).
Hope you get it sorted out soon.
