Posted - May 27 2008 : 16:28:11 I read where some of you guys were using a joy stick to drive. I have an old Microsoft joystick and I couldn't get it configured. I was using the 2 buttons to the right for shifting, top for upshift, bottom for downshift. I was using the trigger for the throttle. the thing is I would put it in first gear then when I pushed the trigger it would jump to reverse and backup.
Do you think the joystick just isn't compatible for the new games? |

Has throttle and brake pedals that go on the floor, your choice of shift lever or paddle shift for gears. 6 additional buttons on the wheel, regarded as the best bang for the buck.

Posted - May 29 2008 : 13:41:51 Your right Specimen. I have been using a joystick and though I have gotten better I still struggle at times. Took 3 tries to get thru the first DL upgrade before I passed. During my NASCAR days I found that one of the buttons on the wheel could be programmed to shift gears. Made it alot easier than using the shifter. Gonna try to get down and pick up a new wheel today. |

Posted - May 29 2008 : 05:27:21 Finally I got my 'D' last night. I did it by switching from the joystick (way too squirrely for test for me) to keyboard(Fang) and mouse. I set the tramsmission to manual and use the mouse buttons for shifting up and down. I also programmed some of the Fang's keys for Repair and Rescue.
Seems to work pretty good. |

Posted - May 28 2008 : 09:18:04 Even when set as automatic you can set buttons to shift up/down to manually control shift points and remember the brake button becomes reverse when you come to a stop. |

Posted - May 27 2008 : 19:49:52 I'm using a joystick too. I just use automatic, the brake, and the handbrake. I just got it loaded last night and made a few runs before I kinda got use to using a joystick. I think you really need a wheel....oh, and it was kinda fun. Although, faster cars kept sneaking in and making it where the rest of us rookies didn't finish. I think I worked up to Mark VI or something like that. |
