Posted - Jun 08 2009 : 10:34:18 I have this Ipod 32 gig player thingy.
I have no issues downloading music. I have bought a couple albums from itunes, downloaded most from Limewire. They all get on my ipod without anyproblems.
I have been downloading my fav music videos. Right now, I have about 20 that show up in my "movies" file on my desktop in itunes. Under "info" for each video it indicates they are "Quicktime movie file." However, only about 5 of them make it to my ipod when I sync.
I have tried just about everything I know to do to get them from my itune program to my ipod and don't know what else to do. Nor can I figure out why one of them gets to the ipod and the next one doesn't. Can't see any difference in the two that I can change.
Anyone out there a Ipod/Itune guru? |

Posted - Jun 08 2009 : 10:53:53 iTunes will play quicktime files but your iPod requires MPEG-4 files at a specific pixel ratio(each generation of iPod is different). Convert the files to the MPEG-4 iPod format using a freeware program such Videora. Most are very simple to use. Just locate the file, choose a destination and which generation of IPod you are using. Simple. Here is a link to a free converter I used in the past. There are tons of them out there to use but some aren't free.

I would also suggest getting familiar with how iTunes stores your music, music videos, movies, tv shows and books. Your iTunes folder is most likely found this way. My Documents/Music/iTunes. Once inside the iTunes folder do a little exploring. Inside the iTunes folder four main folders exist(Album Art, Ipod games, Previous IPod Library and IPod Music). The Ipod Music folder is the most important as it holds your music and videos in a variety of folders usually by artist or type(movie,TV shows, etc). Note: only items that you consolidated into your library will appear in your itunes music folder. If you go up to file/library/consolidate, then all music and videos that itunes has a file path to will be copied into the itunes music folder. If you don't, then if you move a music file or video on your hard drive then iTunes will no longer be able to find it until you reestablish a new file path.
Being familiar with the iTunes folder will allow you to back up/remove and convert more effectively.
Just thoughts. |
