So my download increased from FIOS but upload almost halved.

Fios 24.64 and 5.3
xfiniity 25.14 and 3.69

So do I really need to upgrade to the next speed?

If your talking about for gaming, then no. If your talking about having to upload tons of data for work or something, then maybe. However, I suspect that even business class speeds still are not earth shattering when it comes to upload speed. Those speeds are about what I get with Comcast (28 down and 4 up) and I have never had a problem in games (well except for the laggy games like BF3).
