I'm seriously considering getting CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

How does it compare to BF2? If you are playing it, please give a review. (I never played any of the CoD games, so keep that in mind.)

BP, it not as twitchy as Quake, especially if you join an 18 or less player server. I'd dare say CoD sits in between Quake and BF2.

You can't run around like BF2 as there are so many spots somebody could be hiding. Buildings are so much more accessible than BF2. If you run out in the middle of the street, your dead meat. In short, it's more realistic.

Like Bloody, I prefer WaW to MW. Not to mention they released 3 map packs (with 3 new maps each)via patches to MW's 1 map pack.

There's also a great mod server for WaW called DHD custom.

Game is really fun, just don't join a 50 player server your first go round as you'll quickly throw the game in the trash. lol

Same as Sting...boycotting because of no dedicated servers....and the price is too much for a single player game. $59.99 + 13% = no sale.

The lack of servers is very annoying. Fun game, but MP is not as enjoyable as it could be.

Try The Game! ......Its Christmas! Ive not felt let down at all. You can play in groups and the OCCASIONAL hacker...Ive seen about 4 or 5 games with one in it btw and we just leave as a "group" and join another. Last weeks patch stopped a lot of it. And it happens in Every game ive played anyway. most matches in several modes are 8 to 12 players. Theres just not enough downside to deny yourself the best playing COD yet. Plus we can play together again! We have 4 that play grouped Petri,Dirt,Tipp and myself.....We need at least 2 more!! We play most every evening lately.

If we had 9 we could do some damage!

It ranges from Quake type speeds to much slower like maybe BF2 infantry only on a very small server. Some of the game modes (there are like 20 modes) are much more tactical and slower paced, but still fast.

I would say if you can find COD WaW on sale, that would be the COD to buy. Still a big crowd playing it and much better game than COD4 (MW1) in my opinion.

Just wait a few weeks and the beta will be coming for BF Bad Company 2. That is the next big game in this genre for sure. The PS3 version of the beta rocked, even though the controllers suck on the consoles for FPS games.

Thanks for the reviews. I hate hackers and am no fan of peer to peer lag fests. It looks like I will pass on this one. The speed does not scare me, but I have no desire to play quake paced games as this sounds like.

BF2 will have to do. Now to figure out how to get my 2142 back working when I changed over my computer. Damn thing won't let me log in and the EA help system is a labyrinth meant to prevent access.

I too was boycotting COD MW2, but got a steal of a deal on a copy for $15.

I agree with what Stingray says about getting COD World at War first. It's a slower pace than any of the other CODs for sure. Most BF2 players are shocked at first by the speed and how accurate the hit boxes are in COD. In other words, much more realistic and eventually more fun once you get use to it. COD WaW also has a nice new Vietnam mod out that has some very fun maps.

Maps in all the COD's are pretty small. COD MW2 has a range of maps, but most are pretty dang small and some are very vertical (i.e. 2-5 or more levels high). It does make for good game play, but very fast and tactical.

Personally I wouldn't spend more than say $30 on COD MW2. Reason I say that is the game is great, but the server situation is crap. If you happen to get a good server (i.e. another person with a great connection, that lives close, and has a top end system) then it's very good. However, most the time you get tossed in with a group that has crappy connections, or the host has a crap system that can't handle it and you start to get major lag. Honestly I am happy if I break even in a round. My K/D ratio is almost exactly 1 to 1 and that is a real struggle to keep up. Some rounds I have been like a 1 to 5 K/D ratio, and not because I suck, but because of the major lag. I have had other rounds where the host was great and I have gone as much as 30 to 2 K/D ratio. They really did take the perfect fast pace shooter and neutered the hell out of it by using Peer to Peer hosting. They also have tons of hackers / cheaters cause the Steam VAC system just doesn't catch people that fast. By the time it catches a hack, the hackers have an update to get past it. Although the hacking has gone down in the last week or so.

The single player in MW2 is good but very glitchy and way too short. All in all I think it's an OK $15 - $30 game over all.

Note, I don't have MW2 but have played CoD MW and CoD World at War extensively, they're very similar. Game play is much much faster in CoD than BF2. CoD Hardcore (health is reduced) is not for the faint of heart. If somebody looks at you, your dead. One or two bullets max to kill you.

No vehicles in CoD MW 2 (limited tanks in WaW), maps tend to be 1/3 the size (if not smaller) than BF2. Little to no squad play.

Games tend to last 15-20 minutes vs 30+ minutes of some BF2 games.

I'm currently boycotting MW2 due to the lack of dedicated servers, still play CoD MW+WaW daily.

When I first played CoD MW, I just about threw the game in the trash, I sucked. K/D ratio was 1:2 if not worse.

I eventually learned new tactics and switched my K/D ratio.

It may sound like I'm dissing the CoD series, but actually I love the CoD series. BF2 and CoD are really different style games. I don't want you buying CoD thinking it will be like BF2, it really isn't.

Games are fast, but if you join a 20 or less player server, the pace feels right. 20+, it gets very hectic. MW2 has capped the level to 16 or 18 so that's not an issue.

If you like the pace of BF2, I'd try out CoD WaW first. Maps are a bit larger than MW/MW2, game pace is a bit slower than MW series.
