First week of August is nationals in Irvine. We have a couple of our older kids going (one has Olympic qual times), so if she made that, it would be time to open the wallet and get ready to fly out this way. (100 back qual time is 1:05.39).

If she can get it down to 1:06.49, she would qualify for the Jr. Nationals the following week in Irvine and US Open in Indiana in November.

Yes, this week is Sectionals, next week is Nationals in I think California. That will be cool if she made it. Should know in a couple hours..

I may have made it sound worse than it is. My son is fairly driven, but not as naturally as my daughter. I think the meet this week (Far Westerns) is comparable to your TAG meet. He qualified for 3 individual events (missed 3 others by a few hundredths or tenths of a second) and would have swam 4 relays, but the team dropped the relays. He has mostly AA's (assume you guys use the same standards), A's and a few BB's (not a breast stroke guy). I think our equivalent of your sectionals is the the Western Zone Championships, but it's an All Star meet with ridiculous qualification times (for example the 100 back 13-14 girls time is 1:10.99 so your daughter would have qualified). Few kids have the times, so they select the team based on times prior to the meet this week (last chance was at the Jr. Olympics meet a couple weeks ago). He didn't get selected, but he is relatively young in the age group, whereas most who go are peaking at the end of the age group. He is hoping to really smoke the fall short course season as the long course season combined with jr. lifeguard training (open water swimming and dry land training) gets him in really good shape.

Our daughter should have a great few months in short course, but the age up to 9-10 will be difficult because of the elimination of the 25s and emphasis on 50s 100s+. Even her fastest times won't convert to A times (mostly BB). It's probably going to take most of year one to get going, but like I said, she is way ahead of where our son was given he didn't start swimming competitively until he was 9.

Like you, we like the enviornment and the kids in the program. The kids like the competition and the comraderie. We didn't get much of that in baseball, soccer and other sports.

Well, she's at Sectionals this week in Houston. She swam a 1:08 this morning. She's there with her mother and she called me all excited. Aging up to the 13-14's is a tough one although I think moving up to the 11-12 is probably more dramatic because the kids really change physically during that period. Like you I have a 12 year old that swims and can't get an A time to save her life. But, she works hard and the whole experience for her is social. She loves going to the meets and hanging with her friends. Could care less about the competition. That's a good thing though cause swimmers are usually better kids than most.
Be interested in keeping up with your daughter in short course. That's my 14 year olds best season, don't know why cause she has lousy turns and there are more turns in the races. Go figure. But, keep them in the swim thing. The best thing for them..

Hey, I will take your daughters swim times in exchange for my stars... we are at our Far Western meet this week (probably similar to the meet you were just at), but don't expect our son to final. He was happy just to qualify for the meet. Enough kids have aged up where we won't get to put competitive relay teams out there either (short course seasone they had great teams). He is 12.4 and doing great, but expect the fast times will hit during the middle of short course season until he ages up in Feb.

Your daughter sounds like she is smokin fast. Sub 1:10 on a 100 back is insane, so she must be getting close to the NRT. My son, although younger isn't even in the same galaxy (back isn't his best stroke). He has improved immensely this year, but the age up to the 13-14s is as scary as any. My 8 year old daughter is aging up in November, but she has the beginning of the short course season to rock. She is way past where her brother was and may end up being the better of the two. She has the fastest time in our region in one event and in the top 10 or 20 in all the others. However, the new age group for her is a massive change in time standards.

I've been seeing you guys get promoted (Levitra a coupla days ago, Older last nite and HairPlug everytime the map changes ;-) and i got a rocking chair last nite.

it wasn't the promo so much as the way everyone gets behind someone when they're close and then makes it.

i've got my veteran AT badge from playing on OMO servers, at first it was the only way for me to survive. if thats all BF was going to be i wouldn't have kept playing. the differance is in squading up, playing differant kits, competeing for the win and all the smacktalk on teamspeak.

only 195,000 GP's doesn't seem that far when your playing with old men online...

Trying to finish off the Expert Armor (26+ hours to go) and the SF ribbons and badges. I also would like to get the Euro badge, but haven't played EF in awhile (assuming any servers still play those maps). Armor has been tough in SF as I reallllly reaaaallllly love flying the Apaches, especially on Leviathon.

I am probably developing a nasty reputation with the BCO guys as a chopper whore on that map when it runs....
