Posted - Jul 03 2008 : 18:58:02 ... unless there is a sudden upsurge in players on it, there is little point to keep it going. I check it every day and there are mostly 0 players. Most I have seen the last 7 days were 8 players.
The current balance for the OMO TS and Game Server account is $166.00 - this is after moving $100 to the Arcane to assist in obtaining new equipment to keep the OMO Portal spry. The remainder will be kept for the next game we go after.
Also, I will be taking the TS2 server down. We could use a new TS2 server host or more generic sub categories on Dirt's Vent server. Vent may have better sound, but TS2 was a superior application all around giving better options for communication. Would never have had a word in edge wise in Vent if it were not for TS2's typed chat. Vent is sorely lacking there. |

Posted - Jul 06 2008 : 05:34:18 Yes you can type chat and leave links and smilies and such.
I'm available to help try this out if you need someone. I have a couple rooms all set up .... just haven't used them yet. |

Posted - Jul 05 2008 : 12:12:14 Can you communicate via text as well as voice in it? |

Posted - Jul 05 2008 : 06:06:24 I had another thought for you'se guys' comms. GameServer Client has a built comms which appears and acts a lot like TS. It is a related program to the plugin on your homepage for the COD server.
I can't speak to the quality of the comms but it does have different codecs and one can set up different rooms ... like I said ... it looks and acts like TS. You guys would be able to see where each other is playing to as there is a built in buddy list:

Posted - Jul 04 2008 : 08:44:10 Well here are my thoughts.
1. I hate to see us lose our CoD4 server as there really isn't the "Next Big Thing" on the horizon. However without many playing CoD4 other than (Me, Sting, Tippman, Petri and once in a while Cath and Expired) and the fact that it costs money, I understand.
2. I personally hate Vent. Its sound quality isn't much better (if at all) and its features are weak compared to Teamspeak. I think it was a bad idea to switch and I am in favor of switching back. Not being able to set up whisper groups stinks and not being able to easily chat via type(posting links, etc) is a real bummer in Vent. I realize not many took advantage of whisper groups on TS but if you are playing matches against friends it is really a nice feature as you can communicate with people on your team via a whisper key without having to leave the channel and miss the overall camaraderie.
Just thoughts.

Posted - Jul 04 2008 : 05:02:23 I have a 24/7 TS server that you guys are more than welcome to use. I don't advertise it and it is passworded.
Some of you guys would have to be an admin though, as I come and go in spurts. |

Posted - Jul 03 2008 : 22:16:03 I'm pretty fine with vent. Although maybe with TS and Vent I could talk to both my OMO and BCO buds. |

Posted - Jul 03 2008 : 20:17:56 I can put TS back up guys. If you are only going to use it as an alternative it will work wonderfully. The real problem I had was all the outages with Comcast. I'll put a TS server on the list of things to set up this month. |
