I love it when Congress can't get anything done. This health care legislation needs some "fixin'" that's for sure. IF there is enough compromising on BOTH sides, I think we can see a genuine improvement in the system.

That is a BIG IF.

I could post a link or two, but it takes very little investigation to see that SOMETHING needs to be done. Boy this could get WORSE though if congress is not able to pass a reasonable legislation that takes into account the current economic state of the union.

Nose, Even the Democrats have said that the taxes will have to go up. You are looking at over a trillion million dollars to get this done and we just spent a trillion on the economy and it is not fixed yet. Someone has to pay for it and guess who it is. You new baby is now in debt up to its neck.

Acorn has just held their first meeting telling people how good it is. They got run out of the church here in Charlotte.

TWO QUOTES TO PONDER

"Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid." -- John Wayne

"We live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." -- Barack Obama

Unfortunately, we are now beginning to understand what the second
one means and what the first says about us.

Malpractice insurance rates would come down if they set litigation caps. The big question around this has always been, what is the $$$ value of someone's life? If you lost your child due to malpractice, how would you feel if the amount you could litigate for in a malpractice suit were, say, $100k instead of millions?

Health Care got Clinton off to a rough start and it seems that Obama did not learn the lesson. Sorry Teddy, may not get it while your still alive. BTW I heard a few Republicans agreeing that the Health Care system in America is broken and needs to be fixed. I just hope the compromise does NOT result in raising taxes. If that happens. Hello Republicans in 2112!
The system can be tweaked once the ball gets rolling. Just don't raise the cost TO ANYONE !!!!

It bothers me to think that there will be some people that will sit and decide what care I should have and not the doctor deciding. Rationing is on the way. I have already been told by my doctor at the VA that if I have heart problems at the age of 65, it will be hard for me to get what I need to live the way I would want. In other words, if you get old you just need to die.

Also, the politicians do not use the same health care that we would have. They get to keep their own policies that are paid for by us. Sucks out loud and not well.

The push and complaining about the baby boomers started in the late 70's and early 80's. We built the nation and now they want us dead. NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT.

The people are mad and fighting back. Listen to some of the youtube townhouse meetings the Democrats are having and hear what people have got to say about the coming Health Care the government has for us.

The Canadian system is not perfect, and it has dropped in the "world" rankings over the years, but it still provides a minimum safety net for people.

I, myself, have been a beneficiary and a victim of this system (maybe you have somewhere in your archives the story of my herniated disk), but it eventually, with help got me fixed. I can't imagine where I would have ended up without our "socialist" system. I suppose that you could argue that as a Dentist, I would have been better cared for in the US, since my income would allow me to have access to superior modalities of health care.

However, right wing as I am (in Canadian terms), I still do not begrudge people less fortunate than I to decent and reasonable health care. No system is perfect, but I hope that the spirit of compromise allows the US to move forward on this.

Trust me...I know about the FLAWS in the system.

If you can't trust a health insurance company why would you ever trust government to care for you better? Because they are more caring? Please, if they were, Federal workers would never want Union Representation.

Oh... and on the Big Brother side of things: Britain installed CCTV in 20,000 private homes to keep an eye on the kids and make sure they do their homework, go to bed at the right time, and eat their veggies. Not much longer and they will think 2 + 2 = 4 is far too radical and reduce the size of the dictionary.

Their road to this stage started with National Health Care - the type O, P, and R are trying to force on us.

A big step in the right direction would be tort reform to lower malpractice insurance rates for doctors. Congressional grid lock is ok with me, if they're not doing anything that means they're not spending money.

Socialism takes a while to get a toe hold noesy, just give them time.
