Posted - Apr 04 2006 : 10:36:42 I was browsing through the BF2s.com forums and found this interesting little command for latency. The following command will compensate for your ping and allow you to be closer to undelayed gameplay! Apparently you only have to set this once, unless of course your ping changes (such as when you go to another server.)
quote: "When in-game bring up the console and type the following command.
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.1
Of course the 0.1 means 100ms. So, press tab, look at your ping and replace the 0.1 with a more accurate figure eg. "0.04" (for a ping of 40ms).

So for me, since my ping is usually hovering around 60 ms that would mean:
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.06
Uber BOOM HEADSHOTTING to commence tonight!! |

Cack, I tried it last night and it did not get me kicked, so that's good. It was kinda weird at first, as it seemed that the speed of things had changed a bit or something. I started thinking that it felt like I was on cold medicine or something. Seemed to help with things far away, but close up I think it actually hurt me. I would get up close to someone and they would always seem to get 1 or 2 shot kills on me as I was pounding away on them.
Do you know if it can be turned off by using 0.00? I would like to try it back to back in a round and see what happens.
Actually I am not sure on how to turn it off, but 0 would seem logical to me. No compensation means it's off to me! I personally think that this would benefit snipers more than anyone else. |

Posted - Apr 04 2006 : 21:13:06 Very nice Cack... going to have to try that one out. I get decient ping but if this helps the lag out just a fraction that would be a great help.

Posted - Apr 04 2006 : 16:54:02 That is a negative on the hack. Is render.drawfps 1 a hack? It is simply a command that the designers left in to help with latency issues.
Catheter your ping of 100 would be 0.1 because 1.0 would be 1000 ping or 1 second. My ping of 60 ms (milliseconds) would be 0.06 of a second.
Levitra, if you can get any advantage and it is legal then why not? It is a native command in BF2, it will be like playing single player with very little to no lag between where you aim and where the bullets actually land. No more leading with sniper rifles as you don't have to take into account the latency between you, the other player and the server.
I'll check it out later tonight and see if it makes any improvement in my gameplay. Like it or not you already using this latency manager but don't know what the default is. Why not optimize the settings? |

Posted - Apr 04 2006 : 12:06:17 I'm not sure how this could work but I guess if my ping is 100 and I put the command in with a 1.00 I could play better. But if my ping drops to 80 when aiming at a target it will kill him just before I pull the trigger :D |
