Okay, So I downloaded all 256mb of the ORB demo as you know.

It comes with one skirmish game, and you're locked to the Malus race.

I think I dominate the early game against the comp, but boy does it come back hard

And kicks my butt every time

Please help

What Gink said!!!

OMO is pretty much the only group playing ORB right now so... I might even have a chance of being kind of good at it

Now, now Aged, be nice. Some of us can't even find the time to play... for that matter, how did I find the time to write this?

LMAO, I knew that bro and was feeling the heat comming from my monitor. We took Silver into a 3 way game that cook set up as a team game, so it ended up a 2 on 1. Silver was pretty gracious through it all.

Pace, sorry about all that last night. I probably played 2 games in 5 hrs last night.

Peace

Ginko

PS hope your not pissed pacey

GINKO!!!!!!

I want to play ORB with you (or against ).

I don't think I have near as many games under my belt but I have been playing a couple of the better folks. My problem is that there isn't anyone on in the evenings (9 PM PST) now that they are on the road

So all I've been doing lately is playing against the AI on 4 player maps . I'm trying to figure out player starting places but I'm at a total loss.

You have any insight?

most maps the player starting postitions are top left corner is 1 then go clockwise around the map corners. Typically postition 1 has its resorce base moving into your oppenents starbase while position 2 has it moving away. Depending on your strat I think Position 2 is stronger in a 2 player or team game.

Yep I can see that Gink. So how do you select your starting position... is it just by your player number?

I've yet to be in a game that utilized the 4 corners of the map... maybe that is because I've been in 1v1 or 2v2 team games. BTW - I really don't like the fact that you ALWAYS have to start out in the same corner with your teammate. I like the HW way of 1 player per position. Mind you the team in one corner adds some different tactical situations but... Oh and what the heck is the deal with the two teams always being in the top corners??? Sheesh you should at least have opposite corners?

Have you experienced the same things???

Peace out

Well I finally beat the AI. I found that if I maintained a large fighter presence from the outset, the game was won.

I'm at a loss as to what "Covert action" is?

Also, the manpower scale is a little weird. From what I understand, the more bases you build, the better. . . free freighter, and extra pilots (5?).

I take it you can only upgrade a mine after it is empty? Mine>Repair>Military. . ?

Destroyers come so late in the game, by the time they were out, the day was already lost for my AI opponent.

Am I on the right track?

Poly you have the basic strat down. There are variations to it by increasing research and build times and increasing initial income. In multi games 2 players work out of the same star base. You can share research and resorce's. In theory this will be great but right now its a bit buggy in MP. Another patch is comming out soon to fix alot of the multi problems.

Also, another way to increase manpower is run the academics research tree.

Peace

Ginko
