d34d forum. :(

Believe it or not, I have a reason for posting this topic. I bring a question.

Are any of you purists? That would mean, Clan weapons on Clan chassis, Inner Sphere on Inner Sphere.
To be honest, I'm obessed with pure-teching. It adds an a lot of challange for me, since I mainly run Inner Sphere mechs(Zeus, Highlander, Awesome, Argus, Wolfie, Atlas, Raven, etc). I'll be honest, I sometime use the Clan 'mechs, but it's all about big fat omnislots with 'em these days, excuding the Kodiak.
I mainly use IS mechs for the strategy required in building them, but they have another upside imo - they're harder to hit. You'll notice that most Clan tech has a nose that's too large for it's own good. That's because Clans usually based their design on animals.
IS mechs, on the other hand, are just Gauss Rifles with a cockpit, reactor, and legs. And sometimes another Gauss.
Goofy side-note: The Cauldron-Born has better tonnage than the Thor. Go CB!

Yeah... I'm done. Here's a banana if you found my post boring.

A bunch of us are suffering from Mech burnout these days, but I will admit to some curiosity about going the pure tech or even STOCK mechs.

The reason? Simply to bring some variation and tactical play into the game. There would be no more laserboats or units simply crammed with 1-2 weapons in a STOCK game. I think that would force some serious rethinking of strats by alot of people.

I'm a dirty cross techer. (and proud of it)

Oddly enough, one of my favorite configs is a Clan chassis with (some) IS weapons.

I'm a clanner lover myself, well atleast from a MW4 perspective.

Now if we talkin the entire history of BT then I'm definitely an IS dihard. The Phoenix Hawk LAM, Maurauder (sp?), and Warhammer are my favorites, IS weapons and all.

The problem with puretech games is that they aren't very popular. Anything that violates the any mech any weapon motto is in fact not very popular.

I'm still waiting for the BT MW game that combines the old Genie Multiplayer BattleTech with a MW4 engine (or better). Yeah I know there was BT3025 but it was never what it should have been once EA got involved. I'm sad that Kesmai let it go...

Oh well I can always dream about it.

Oh... one other thing. Although I would likely drive LostTech IS Mechs I would take any opportunity to implement captured ClanTech. It would give me an advantage in battle as my enemy would not be expecting it. Of course there are always trade offs for mixing tech... can you say reliability problems?

Oh! Yeah! Mauraders are the IS Timberwolf,.. gotta love 'em. I don't know all that much about CBT, but I'm an IS diehard as well. Atlas', Zeus, Maurader II, oh my. I feel fuzzy just talking about them.
I was REALLY disappointed when they cancelled that BT MMORPG. It would have been awesome. I personally woulda been a Merc, had I gotten it. Merc/Pirate/Bounty Hunter-type deal.
I agree with you on the CrossTech in a CBT scenerio, Arc... Clan Tech would definatly tip the scales, granted it doesnt blow up in your face.

Yeah, there's a lot of that. The IS Lasers are generally better for heat reasons. Racs are common with those omnis as well. :\ What I've yet to see is an AC5 boat on a Daishi or Kodiak, though...

Always a good time. :) Best "HAHA ANNOY" mech is probably the Uller, imo. Tops out 3kph shy of the Flea, and can carry an ERLL, and some nice shiny Streak Missiles.

Yeah,... I hit a burnout because of that as well... it's just a battle of turrets lately, not my style.
That's why I tried PTing... it worked for me. Stocks would be nice, too. Only boatstocks are Awesomes, NovaCats, and Longbows, so you'd see a lot of variety, and actual teamwork. Can't remember the last time I saw that. :(

Anyways,.. thanks for your replies gentlemen. :)

Very well, thanks. Been keeping a lid on things as of late... mum made a few trips to the ER two weeks ago for her blood pressure (at one point it was 240/170!) but it's all going groovy since. Just gotta watch the stress.
You?

Aw c'mon,.. hasn't daring to be stupid taught anyone anything? If anything, screwing around is gooood. *points at sig* Do iiiiiit... load that Daishi with 5 SMRM30s and nuke stuff!

As for the stress-o-meter, nah, not for me, nor mum. It's quite the opposite really... tis more stressful being here, since we have stuff to do, on and off.
Mum manages some MSN sites (Chronic Pain stuff... she has a degenerative spine as well as her pressure), and I think that may have something to do with her higher stress. I never actually go to her sites, so I cannot say for certain.
All in due time, though.
