I've got a few setups (on the iffy disk). When I get around to fixing my machine, I'll post some or send them to you.

Well, I have a question. I've been playing around in Daytona the past day or so. I use a setup that has a lower gear (800's) and I've tried the next one up (900) and I've tried various versions of the others. I can run 182 or so and with a draft I might get up to 186. I think I'm flying, then comes 2-3 cars that just blow me off the race track.
This setup thing is all new to me. Can anyone explain how I can get the correct setup by track without being a grease monkey? I've gone through the garage thing and played around with some of the settings I thought would be nice. But, I still get blown away. Although, I like the advice aged gave in staying back during the start. The last 5 races I was either in the back or 2/3rds back and after everyone took everybody else out, I placed no less that 4th in all the races. But, never saw the front runners or on the longer 40-50 lap races they would actually lap me. And that was with me running in no traffic and making smooth turns, throttle to the floor and nailing that little green line. Makes very little sense to me.
It's fun though. Oh yea, I am finally getting the "getting into the pits and out" thing down. Though I have noticed if someone crashes into you and you spin out, even going to the pits does not bring your car back to it's speedy self, or should it? Am I missing something there?

oh yea, I was racing last night very late and was my last race. This ass was flying around the track and obviously was faster than anyone. He would pull in front, wait for you to pass him then clip the rear of your car causing you to spin out. Everyone was pissed off at him as was I. The last time he spun me out I just sat and waited on him to come around, pulled our in front of him and crashed him out. My guess is he felt that was really cool.

Also, another fun (sorry guys) thing to do is in SP to turn around and go the opposite direction on the track and see how many cars avoid the head on collision. Then watch it on the replay......funny stuff. Oh well, I digress...

2-3 cars are always much faster than one car at Daytona. Without a drafting partner, you're a sitting duck.

As for your online experience, sometimes you run into jerks like that. I've been lucky, I haven't run into one for a while (and none have run into me either).
