For anybody still playing Mercs, Mektek just released a patch (MP1.1) to their expansion pack. It is a fairly small file that eliminates some known cheats and adjusts the damage transfer on the Ares. You can get the patch at the Mektek website. http://www.mektek.net/mekpak/
Mektek is also working on a second expansion pak the will include over 20 new mechs. No date set for the release.

The CT of the Ares was kind of shielded by the other sections and, perhaps more importantly, the damage transfer model (damage from a destroyed section transferring to an adjacent section) wasn't implemented correctly. That's why you could always win a damage war in an Ares.

well, i have noticed that the mw4 deathstar (ares) is now a lot more like the cb... tough, but not unreasonably so.
