I will support it providing the server we choose can handle BF2. Nothing more miserable than being on a slow server that don't have enough umph to keep the lag and skips down.

$8 a month for a server? You need to clarify this.

I'm guessing you mean PER SLOT, don't you?

Are you talking RANKED or UNRANKED?

RANKED are only available via "trusted partners" of EA and are pricey. $5-8 per slot, per month is a good guestimate as any. So thats $6 x 32 slots = $192/month minimum for a ranked server.

UNRANKED server can be had for siginificantly less, but I'll leave that to you guys to figure out if cheaper and empty is a good idea.

according to the EA website, purchasing a ranked server is just a 3 step process, and you can be up and running in minutes with full admin rights. cost is 8 dollars per slot with a one time 20 dollar setup fee. 16 slots equal 128 dollars per month. servers can only be rented on a month to month basis, and they only accept visa, mastercard.

In keeping with Festy's time honored example of ONEupmanship I'm gonna set up my own ranked server for one player and add new slots as more members take interest. $8 per month is not bad.

BloodyWallStain from OTH now has a ranked server that I see many OTH and OMO brethern on. Perhaps you could simply pool your assets and support one server.

Just a thought...

This idea has been put forward a few times but I think the old guys want to misbehave on their own 'turf'. To that end the wheel has been set in motion and we should have our own ranked server up and running by this weekend.

Ok, I'm a little late in this thread and I only play ocassionally. But I would be interested in donating the 8 bucks for this. My son and I love the game, but until the cold weather rears it's ugly head my status will still be "ocassional".
Where do I go to sign up for the "clan" and where do I deposit the bucks?
I'll be out of town till Monday so I'll check back then. Thanks
Mike

Hello Mike, just write an introduction. There is a link for members(new) from the home page. You can read some more info about OMO by going to www.oldmenonline.com.

Until you get to know us all better, you would be a welcome guest on our BF2 ranked server when there is 'slots' available.

As for donations, well, that would be an option for guests, but if you do feel generous after playing a few good games with the ladz, there is a paypal link on the home page (left side). Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks for dropping by.

First off, Mike we hope to see you in the game some time. Drop by our teamspeak server and we can chat more about OMO if you like, or you can just drop by while playing BF2.

Now Fud that was perhaps the most eloquent post I have seen eminating from your new puter. Well done. We should name you the official OMO greeter.

As with most servers CH..youll get kicked to make room for members..since you had just joined..Im sure you probably got kicked for that since you wouldve had one of the lowest scores...Or maybe there was a lot of foul language going on, and someone was just handing it out evenly....

Realy this is a laid back bunch of guys that have a blast playing..
there are a few threads about TeamSpeak and and joining OMO in general, ..but you have to search thru the different topics, but its all here..
