I think I've solved a question several have had since this game started. I know we probably all knew this but never took it into consideration when emptying a clip into someone and getting killed with a couple of rounds.

Medic, Spec Opps, Engineer, Sniper have NO armor and all the rest have Heavy armor. That would explain why when I go up against an anti tank as a spec opps he kills me easier.

That would also explain why as support I did better last night. My kill/death ratio was much better.

Balancing this-the less armor the longer you can sprint.

And, or, you are becoming a better player.
Aim for the head, only takes one or two shots. Pretty much evens things up. Even the engineers shotgun close up will put anyone down in one shot with a head shot. My favorite way to kill people

Actually, sitting still and looking around gets you killed faster than anything. Move, Move, Move, even if you don't know where your moving to......MOVE

I don't know if I'm getting any better but I hope I am. Just seems like the learning curve is pretty steep so the improvement isn't noticable to me.
I know heart is right I get killed more when I first spawn looking around to see where I am and what's going on. Usually the first and last thing I see is the muzzle of an armor vehicle right in front of me. I get killed more at the time of spawn than any other time in the game. I think this is a problem with the game if it spawns you directly in the line of fire.

It does take time. The first while you just have to get used to the idea that you are going to be most peoples practice target.

After that, I'd suggest a couple of things;

- decide what class is going to be you're primary character and stick with it. Each has a learning curve. Pick one that suits you. Do you prefer long distance or up close combat? Up close, assault is great, for distance try the AT kit and get good at steering your missle at targets (including individuals). Pick a 2nd player type you like, and stick with those two until you see improvement.

- I suggest staying at mid range and try learning to survive, not get kills at first. Leanr to play "heads up", paying attention to what you hear, and what you see. Quite often you can hang back a bit and hear your enemy and narrow your search down. Look for muzzle flashes and angle in on them from an advantageous angle (ie...shoot 'em in the back).

- Always look around, and try not to stay in one place too long. Usually your enemy is going to be just like you...if you kill him 2-3x he is going to come looking for you, so be somewhere else. If you can see a fella in the distance, assume at first that he saw you. After a bit you start getting a feeling for whether they are aware of you or not.

- if you are respawning in the same spot and get killed again and again, try this. I don't know if it actually works, but I change my spawn point to another spot on the map for a few seconds, then reselect my old spawn point. It seems to move you to one of the alternate respawn areas within that spawn point (if they exist). That or simply select a new point and slog it from there. Stubborn and dead is not helping....

- Let other guys be the heroes, and take the lead. Cover their six and get some shots in as they engage an opponent. Learn to first in short bursts, and MOVE, go prone, stand up, strafe....

- If you kill a medic or are near one that has been killed, and you are injured take the time to grab his kit, drop some first aid kits and heal yourself. Then grab your original kit back before its gone. Ditto for support if you need ammo. Similarly, if you're not carrying the right kit for the situation, look around and see if you can scrounge one from a dead fella. Infantry against Armour sucks, but AT can help (and vice versa).

- The absolute first thing I do once I spawn at a flag or approach one, is to LOOK at it. If its moving down....you know an enemy is nearby. This doesn't mean rush in there, but take a few secs to see if you can spot them and get the drop of them.

- ALWAYS check your mini map for ARTY warnings, and to see if the UAV is operating in your area. The UAV signal can give you a leg up on approaching your enemy. Also listen for spottings from your commander and check your map when you hear one to see if its near you. Good Commanders don't spam spottings, but do notify you of significant ones.

- If you notice a supply drop, but don't get a notice from your commander....its the enemies. BE CAREFUL....RUN AWAY EVEN. Every once in awhile I like to order up an Artillery barrage on a location, then I count to 3 and drop a supply crate there (assuming there is no current request). Sometimes the enemy all rush up to it to reupply/heal and befroe you know it Arty is dropping on their noggins. So it pays to be suspicious.

Festus is especially right in his first point. Starting out I was really horrible, so much so I about gave up. I was playing with the homeworld gang and Uberjumper asked me to spawn as support and suddenly I felt that I was semi usefull for a change. Since then I have played support almost exclusively and couldn't be happier about it. If you don't feel like your playing ability is up to your expectations try different kits until you find the one your most comfortable with.

I like the Spec Opps cus I like the upgraded weapon and I like blowing up stuff. I've been playing support cus I want to unlock the upgraded support weapon. You can't hit sh#t at a distance but it's sure nice not to run outa ammo every time you come up against multiple targets.

Its been said already Catheter, but when you level up you can unlock ANY weapon you want, not the weapon of the kit you play the most.

Just wanted to reiterate that.

Ok, I read some threads on the Planet Battlefied site that if you only used a weapon a few times and used another a bunch you most likely would get the one you used the most. Don't know, just what I read. I really don't think the Spec Opps weapon is what I was trying to unlock but that's what I ended up with and have been pretty happy with it.
