Hey all...already posted in the general section...but like a moron I didn't read everything.
I like your server, and you guys are fun to play with. I was interested in maybe hooking up on a weekend and giving me a tryout. I can typically only play between 9-10am eastern and after 7pm on the weekends...My wife controls my time. Anyway Cheers to all.

Heya MacNeill, first if I could direct you to www.oldmenonline.com it is our main page, and we have guidelines posted there, humor, old age, and patience is some of the main requirements :) We do not operate like a clan but we are a club, we have a kind of serious young age limit, i think 32 and older is the norm, we a TS server for speak that is open to use, if fact it is a requirement that you install and get into TS some that we can make sure that you have no abnormalities :), this gives the guys a chance to get to know you a leettle befor you would be invited, but we also do not try to make it hard, we ask also that you take the time to get to kno w us also
Peace bro

32, thats it. Unless its 30 cus maybe they like ya, or you asked someone else. Sometimes its 35, but I think that is only on days with an "r" in their name. Its that or the "r" must be in the name of the fella you are asking, I can't rmember, been away for sometime.
There are however exceptions to this, just not always. Its all very clear, if you understand it all.

I may be wrong cus I'm fairly new to OMO but I was told the minimum age was 35. Also you can go on TS2 if you want but most OMOs are on Ventrilo now. Go into the thread the says "Ventilo Info" (Typo on the Sticky title) Main thing is we are here to have fun and you have to have patience. If you can't just play with us until we ask you to join then you probably don't have enough patience. Another thing is the player name will be given to you and any stats you have now, you will lose. All our names are bassed on the Old Age thing.

Well, there is the chronicalogical age of the applicant and there is the perceived mental age, this perception being dependant on the standard of normality representative of the typical OMO member. However this measure of normality is sometimes weighted or offset by OMO members that have barely met or exceeded this standard and hence the accepted age differential for applicants has increased variance.
All in all... CLEAR AS MUD!

Fuddy has taken was a college boy that has taken statistics, I'm guessing.
He was also being generous when saying we have "barely met" the standard mentally.
Scott, we are governed (term used loosely), by "guidelines". The sarcasm you saw from Festus (an OMO-exile by his own choice) above is due to some history we have in arguing over set rules or looser guidelines. So far, the guidelines rule, so to speak. So, if you are in the ballpark on age (we'll have an internal discussion if it is an issue at all), and we all hit it off to the point some of us start to recruit you (it does not take that many to get someone in), then you'll be invited to join after an initiation (bring your knife).
Until then, we are looking to have some fun playing our games and you are welcome to come join us on ventrilo, TS2, VoIP, or whatever the flavor voice software of the day is.

Is this an iron-clad rule or a loosely followed "OMO guideline". Look at my sig, I would hate to start all over again. I am pretty close to hitting Sergeant Major (all weapon unlocks) and earning a few more expert badges and medals.

Apart from your 'nick' being such a mouthfull to pronounce, especially when in BF2, after saying your name it's already too late, I think you have a real crisis. You will certainly have to go through the naming ritual as part of initiation, but since your name is already age related, it will be a difficult call. Others have had to give up their BF2 history when taking on a new OMO name, so quite rightly, they have good reason to ensure the rule is adhered to.
Personally I'd be quite happy to stick a [OMO] tag in front of your existing name (only for the duration of BF2) and for all other times your new OMO name would be used. However this is a matter not easily resolved, especially when we start talking about it.
Undoubtedly, there will be some sort of agreement reached... there will be much bloodshed, gnashing of teeth, members leaving and outright anarchy within OMO
But... this is normal!

I do answer to 'HEY MAC'....so my indoctrination my lead to a millenium of civil war amongst the nations of OMO....How cool. The only person that ever cared that much for me was my mom....she cared enough to make sure she moved without a forwarding address when I went to college!

As you rightly say, 'Mac' is a lot easier to pronounce.

the 1.03 patch supposedly allows you to change your name and NOT lose your stats. As to how you accomplish this, I have no idea, but searching the BF2 boards would be a good start.
Do NOT, under any circumstances use "Iron clad rule" and "OMO" in the same context or even sentence. Even using the word guideline will get some of their backs up. Catheter....don't bring up the difference between 30, 32 and 35, or ask for clarification of that. I did, and now I simply DANCE.

Actually, "Mac" would be a good OMO name. Nobody says, "Hey, Mac.", anymore. That is definately age appropriate.
You would just have to convince us of that during a naming ceremony.
Oh, and that comes after an initiation, which comes after a good bit of discussion on the OMO boards, which comes after you playing in the games with us and some good times by all on VoIP/Ventrilo/TS2, which may or may not have started happening already.
I can usually go on like this for hours, but the Raiders game is coming on in a few minutes, I think.

OTMD your name is appropriate and will not require changing except for the OMO which you have already done.
MacNeil, your name don't even come close no matter how we try to stretch it. Others before you have given up their original name and position to become a part of our little party. If you are serious about joining, then you will be required to be named with an appropriate, age-related name chosen by the few that will initiate you. However, with some hard convincing we can soften the name-blow by letting you be part of the naming ceremony where you will have a little input on which "old" name you will receive. That's the way it is, that's the way it should stay.
Kill ya later!

If this were a gangster themed group (vs. old, mature, etc.), HB would be named "The Enforcer".
