I've just restarted my account to see what they've done in the past year.

They've basically created a new game. If you are a veteran player, you might have some difficulty getting over how bad they screwed their customers by completely changing the game (to the point they took approx 37 different mix and match very customizable professions and replaced them with 9 linear, completely separate, professsions).

The game seems fun so far. I'm enjoying the space aspect as an Imperial Tie Fighter pilot and shooting up lots of X-Wings, B-Wings, and Z--95 ships.

If anyone else is playing, speak up. What server are you on? (my main is on Corbantis, I believe, and I've got an alt on Ahazi)

I won't go into how they won't let me pull out my creatures anymore (I was a master CH before all the changes and I had quit the game).

I did for about 3 days before I canceled it. Not my cup of tea.

CoH/CoV is, however.

I appear to be the opposite to you, Petri. CoV went the same way as CoH. Same job, different costume.

I think that SWG is not finished with its evolution. The next step is for the devs to panic over the massive drop in their player base and to reintroduce some of what they did away with. The only way this will happen, however, is if LucasArts fires SOE and blames it all on them. That way they might be able to convince some players to come back if they find a reputable MMO experienced company to run it for them. That'll take a few months, though, and may never happen. Might be better to let it die on the vine and come up with a whole new start.

I played SWG for about 6 months before EQ2 came out. Having been a long time EQ loyalist, I had to drop it for EQ2. I haven't played any MMORPGs in a while. Just takes so long, I'm drained by it. With a 10 month old baby in the house, I like to jump on, get a bout 2-3 rounds of action in, and be able to bail if the crying starts. :p
Been a while since I was on SWG (at least a year and 1/2). Hopefully they fixed a lot of stuff. Just didn't do it for me either...

Personally, I like EVE better than SWG as well. Oh, and PvP in the PvP zones is nothing like PvP in the arena - the difference is dramatic and most of my characters are being geared for it.

Get out of that hole and come fly in space with me. I've got the dark side on my shoulder (and a cute little Tie Pilot uniform and helmet) and we are kicking Rebel (NPC) butt.

Might want to hold off a bit. The population of SWG seems to be abandoning ship due to all the BS and changes they made.

It wasn't until only recently that one of the top devs acknowledged that all these changes have been in the works for the last couple years and they never told anyone. They had even made some changes giving creature handlers some new features about 2 months before they did away with creature handling altogether. Really some brain dead morons running this game.

I'm having fun, just the player base is rather scarce.

I just fired up my old love again. Asherons Call. It was the same as BP. Wanted to see what they have done with the thing since I left. The changes they have made greatly improved the game. The graphics are still sub par. Just a little better than when it came out and that was a couple months after EQ1.

The game does have something that no other MMORPG has. Darktide. A good open PvP server. The game was made from the beginning to be totally PvP. They discovered that most players didnt want that so they changed their focus to PvM for a long time. Since I left a few years ago they managed to implement a lot of needed improvements to PvP.

The game has changed a lot mainly due to the player base being much higher lvl than before. The lvl cap is 260 or something like that. To put that in perspective, 2 years after it came out lvl 60 was considered a respectable lvl. Because of this I wouldnt recomend it to new players. Most of the content is geared for high lvl and most of the players are 200+.

I was able to reactivate my old account and found that the guy who I gave the account to had lvled my guys a bit. When I left most where around 40. Now they are 60-70. I dont really mind starting from lvl 1 but its nice to have some higher lvls to do certain things. A lvl 70+ trade mule is worth a lot to me since im not much of a trader and dont like getting others to do my crafting. I did start a lvl 1 and am playing him with support from the other char. The high lvls can clear quest dungeons and buff his gear so I will be able to lvl him fairly fast.

As I said I dont recomend it for new players but if anyone does want to give it a try I can get you off to a strong start. Think the monthly is 12.50. A bit high for such a old game but I guess they have a loyal player base and dont need to look for new players.

The server I play is Darktide and its a chaos server. Totaly open PvP, no rules, no safe zones, no mercy. As it used to say when you logged on.....be prepaired for a very harsh existence.

Not that I know of. In fact I couldnt even find a place to download it. Just some stuff on ordering a box. I used my old disk to get it going again. Here is the site...

http://ac.turbine.com/

Did some checking and if you get the Throne of Destiny you get the whole game. Since I activated a old account I dont get access to the new stuff unless I buy it. Not sure if I will yet.

I've abandoned them a second time. I had a master creature handler and now they are nothing more than window dressing in my datapad (that pissed me off). I got over that and focused on the space portion that I had not done prior to the first time I stopped playing. That got boring when I found out you cannot enter the PvP areas until you are a master pilot. Never tried the PvE portion after getting killed a couple times to creatures I used to solo with ease.

I just can't stand that they took away stuff and nerfed abilities of players and called it an improvement. What iced that feeling was the arrogance and straight out jerk responses the devs would post on their forums. I won't go back until I read that the whole lot of them were fired and they rolled back the updates (the game will go out of business first, is my guess).

EVE... you can PvP fresh from the tutorial, just do it in 0.4 space or lower.
