Good news is I just got IC last night. Bad news is I wont be playing online.
My DSL is out on me. Direct TV DSL is sutting down oporations. my current contection is @30-60 bps and unstable. I finaly told them to just shut it off so I dont keep paying for it. Im having finantual trouble so I wont be getting another service right away. Will prob be a couple months before I do.
I messed with the army builder in IC last night on my laptop. Havent played the actual game yet. Looks realy cool tho. Found that all creatures are not made equil. Or so it seems messing with just the builder. I made a bug based swarm army (of course ) and I will check out how it plays in sp. If my connection is still here and stable enough I will let you guys know how it turned out. I expect my lvl 1 scorpion/dragonfly combo will be quite the rusher hehe.
As it stands right now I dont even have 56k at my gf place. I am at my dads right now. Dont think it will work on my laptop but I can try it. I did get a chance to play a few games online before the dsl shut off. Game is ok. Good concept and fair balance. Lack of variety tho. They did a good job making sure the special abilities arnt overpowered. The result is that many are too underpowered for thier cost. Some are useful but most are marganal at best.
Single player is well done. Chalanging but leaves me with the feeling the deck is stacked against me. Im doing the one where I die in 15 min and randomly lose control of my creatures who attack me after a while. The computer seems very good at coming up with counters to whatever I build. Wouldnt be a problem if it didnt start with a bunch of towers. Makes its counter building strat a little too effective. But thats much better than it being too easy.
I will be getting dsl again in a week or two. It will be half the speed and dynamic instead of static ip. The cost will be the same. No wonder DTV is getting out of the DSL buisness. Too bad for me since it was sutch a sweet deal. I hope I dont have too many problems with dynamic IP. Ive had it before on a lan setup and it sucked. Having it with only one comp should help but there will still be things I cant do. Hopefully the limitations will be minor.
