FUN. I really like the maps a lot. Other fun goodies like the little birds make it even more worth it. Please play on our server if your getting it. We had a few people in already and almost had a game start on us. Tread and I found some fun stuff as we looked over the maps.
64.34.214.4 is the IP for our AF EF server. Pass the word, we would like it to become a popular place to play.

Played for awhile on a few different servers and it was fun. The planes are cool, but given the newness, it was like a freaking 3rd grade class waiting for one. I'll check out your guys server tomorrow. I checked it out a few times but didn't see more than 3 or 4 people.

My first impressions were a lot better than for the last "booster pack". The graphics in Armoured Fury are on par with the base BF2 that we all know. In some respects I feel they are better and there is some authenticity in the familiar scenery. Looks almost like Wisconsin on a couple of the maps.
I had a go in all the planes and choppers I could find:
The "little heli" is like a flying eggshell; no doubt the VSFS 'spit squad' will take that out no problem. There was a bomber I managed to fly and boy! was it shakey. Maybe it was supposed to add to the realism, but if it is anything like that for real, the designers need to go back to the drawing board (or PC CAD system).
So, overall, without the planes, this would be an enjoyable map for all the tank thugs, heli flyers and Sunday drivers. Cadaver will most likely love it.
So far I give it a 9 out of 10 because this time I beieve it was worth the $9.99.

The little heli can be an awesome infantry killing machine. With it's own UAV, you can find hidden ground troops and run (it pretty fast) from major threats without them detecting you (can't really hear it in the tank). Combine it with a support person as pilot and either Spec Ops or Engineers dropping C4 or mines on vehicles and you have the potential of a pretty serious threat. The passengers are extremely vulnerable to ground fire of any type.
The A10 and Su are nice additions. Dogfights are really dogfights since the planes do not have A2A missiles. You have to kill them the old fashioned way with the guns. Also, NO afterburners, so using altitude for speed adjustments as well as throttle variations is key. The planes are capable of flying pretty slow, and overall, fly slower and a bit less responsive than any of the other BF2 planes. You have 4 bombs that drop 2 at a time. Road rage and the Alaska map have so many mobile and stationary AA assets, the planes are a lot more vulnerable (add in no afterburners too). You have to plan bombing and attack routes carefully.

Anytime. We plan on keeping it all AF maps for the next week or so, then we will figure out the best sizes and also mix in a couple EF maps. Feel free anytime to get in and play. If I see Older though, I will be finding my AA to shoot him down. LOL.

How's the A-10??? I downloaded and installed the booster pack was just physically and mentally tired too play the game last night.
I was trying to fix a cluster F$#% of an anti-virus upgrade on our AV servers. One of the three servers, the primary AV server was not communicating to its secondary servers. Nice... I guess that happens when two of the servers are running 2000 (primary and one secondary) and the another running server 2003. So I set the newer server as the primary and I was able to recover most of the system client hierarchy and groups! PHEW! But my former primary server is still having a brain fart and not communicating with the others. I guess today I will check if any ports or sockets are blocked by the firewall or router. Piece O' excrement.

Older and Rodent were dang good in the A10's. The dog fights are good, cause the planes are slow and no rockets. They can all be taken out by AA and even had one Eryx kill on one. This booster makes it so good helo pilots do well in helos. Good plane pilots do well in planes. Good (fill in the blank) do well at (fill in the blank). Game play is very dependent on team work. If they had done SF like this, it would have been a huge success.

Good ole Micro$$oft. I feel your pain Cack. I remember when 2000 Server came out and they had a new system for it's security. It wouldn't work with NT 4 so you had to use the old system if you had any NT bassed machines on the network.
You might want to do some research and see if 2003 is using a different communication protocol or something and not allowing 2000 server in. I know everytime they come out with a newer OS it takes priority and the older OS is considered a lower level system.
Like when XP first came out they wouldn't communicate with 2000 pro and 98 cus it uses a different type of communication.

Well they were communicating before. I heard from some more senior sys admins here that when they tried to do an upgrade and have the 2003 server as the primary it was having problems with uploading virus definitions to the secondary servers. I guess the same problem arose when I am doing it now... Oh well I have migrated the clients that were on the older server to the new primary server and we are thinking of moving this AV server from our office server room to the central data centre to increase speed across our national network, as the central data centre has a much bigger pipe and is practically attached to the backbone in Toronto.
So far stress levels have been alleviated as I am rolling out remote client installs with ease. Just rolled the new AV engine out to over 100 users in just about an hour or two. So it is smoking on the newer server.
And to get back on topic, I am planning on playing the booster tonight to celebrate.
