well SFI has finally released their long awaited patch, forcing Ginko-OMO to cease his endless spamming of the ORB boards
i didnt read anything in the release notes that they have fixed the crash problems, and i really believe that at this late date, they are just putting makeup on a corpse. i will try on friday night, and will see just how many people have come back. i dont there will be any difference, and i think this game will fizzle out, now that freelancer is out. i'm in nashville today, and the ebgames across the street from vanderbilt U, has got 20 copies.

need help with orb guys.
That opening scene for strategy first really stalls on my computer. How can I disable the AVI? Also.... are we honestly supposed to see a white background instead of the color of space being black? I mean.. this program sucks. I have tried a number of things and she no work.
Any ideas/suggestions?
I have a Duron 1.5mhz AMD. 128 MB ram 16MB voodoo graphics AGI card.
I have no problem running other programs just this infernal thing. :(

Maybe ORB is not compatible with VooDoo cards. I wonder... I have an old VooDoo card but it's 8megs and PCI. Actually, I don't think I want to try testing it against my GeForce2. ORB would have been better off if they had waited to make things work before releasing it. Guess someone said: "release it or we release you".

the program works fine even on my 550meg p3 laptop with 8 meg ati rage mobility chip. your problem is that orb does not work with duron's, and certainly not in combination with a voodoo card. sorry dude, get a dell

I'll second the Duron / ORB comment. Trolling on the SFI board, I've come to the same conclusion. Folks with Celeries (Celerons), P3s, P4, Athlons.. no problems like that. Folks with Durons though... well, like Wing said "Dude, buy a Dell... if you really want to play ORB".
Personally, I would just not play ORB
I have to place a CAVEAT though. I LIKED ORB SINGLE PLAYER (even though it seems I'm the only one). It was damn fun and about my pace (it wasn't a massive click fest and you could use strategy). Of course you needed to have it on Hard to get the AI to even remotely be a threat.

Actually Arcane, I liked SP in ORB as well (one of the reasons I still have the game and installed too.) - Multiplayer was too disapointing.

Yes Pickled, it was released to the objections of the Beta testers who knew better than to put such a buggy MP game on the market when the ONLY motivation was a fear of losing the "Christmas market" - which I think they lost anyways.
