Man, it's just so different. It actually felt somewhat primative. The graphics seemed more bland (same reaction as when I played 2142 for the first time) and the weapons felt so slow. It was like I could count the bullets as the shot out of the rifles. My favorite rifles felt like airsoft guns. Helos were still fun and take way more skill to fly than the gunships. The barrels on the tanks looked like drink straws. The jeeps needed the turbo. There were too many kits that were too specialized. No adjustable zoom on sniper rifles. The planes do change the balance of the game in a big way.

However, I am still a 3 star General who could still find his way to the top of the leaderboard. Managed to chase an air bombing whore off the server by shooting him down too much for his precious K/D stats for planes. I then proceeded to bomb the crap out of the other side. I was a bit rusty, but it started to come back. It was interesting, but not enough to keep me coming back other than the occational change of pace.

2142 seems more balanced, promotes better squad play, more ground pounding, fair arty (BF2 arty is too effective), etc.

I do love that turbo boost! And I love to have the Allied Intent apache in 2142, now that would be fun!

I've been hanging out at my parents for the New Years... my dad doesn't have BF2142 on his computer so just for grins I played some BF1942 and Desert Combat. I thought it would be fun to go back, but those games felt so SLOW compared to 2142 and BF2.

Last night I opted to watch the BSU-OU game. Man, what an awesome game.

I'd love to have my M1 in 2142 retro fitted with active armor.

Ya but you got to admit once we got back into the swing of things we seemed to turn the tide of the battle. I did miss the zoom feature on my sniper scope though and Dem seemed to miss his shields in the tank lol.
