Eve of Destruction is a Vietnam mod and pretty fun.http://www.eodmod.com
They have a patch coming out to correct a few minor issues, but it's pretty addictive as it is. Really neat maps. Only a couple BCO playing it, but it's almost all I play anymore.

Enzyte and i just got modjive and are currently d/ling all the mods,some seem to not work(as in being able to download) but we got EoD , we like it.
For anyone else who would like a way to get the mods w/o having to search ,here ya go

Dcon is cool and a handful of BCO are still playing it once in a while, but the majority of BCO are pretty wrapped up in stats, ranks and 2142.
EoD is not for everyone, but for some of us it's THE game right now. Really addictive and the night maps and weather in some really add to the game. There are only a few servers that are populated each day, but there is a core group that play all the time. I have been playing with some of the developers (EoD and Pirates mods) and that has been a blast. The patch for EoD should be out today and will help with the sniper battles that happen (70% playing sniper cause the rifles are so good).
I think that the mods as we knew them (bf1942 days) are over. FH2 may have legs once it comes out, but all the other mods are going to be small core groups that play all the time. No DCF where you have thousands of players.

Feeling like a dumba$$, but how do I install it? The file I downloaded is type .rar, which I gather is some compression format, but is there a tool out there I can easily obtain?

I took down one of our 2142 servers this morning (had not been used once for the last 30 days!!!) and I replaced it with a EoD server.
BCO EOD
66.135.47.249
I will update it with the patch later today (if it's released).
I am still totally addicted to this mod (even with some of the issues with the sniper rifles, etc). The patch is going to clean up a bunch of stuff and it should really rock after that is done. According to one of the Devs I played with last night, the patch may be out as soon as today or tomorrow.

Finally tried it out. Bloody is correct... it is addicting. Been playing sniper mostly (LOL). After initially getting my a$$ sniped repeatedly I finally took a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach and have been having some fun with it. Once the patch comes back I'll go back to playing mostly medic. I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed BFV, and it is cool to have jungle warfare with the BF2 engine.

New version released today. Here is a fairly fast download site:

Note: it is a full client install (as opposed to a patch).
Also, if you download from this location you get only the self-extracting executable (as opposed to the .rar file you get elsewhere). This means that you won't get the sample shortcut icon (which contains the mod path).
To create the shortcut, just copy your regular BF2 shortcut and then append the folowing: +modPath mods/eod_v1.1
