Bif, you need not leave...just agree to be disagreed with and let it go. We love you man. As do I mostly as you brought me in the OMO brotherhood. I want to see everyone at BF2 tonight on Bloody's server. I'm leaving early just so I can play with most of you as usually when I finally get on there are only a few of you left.

This is in the public forums right? Talk about hijacking a thread...

A lot has happened since Cadaver's original post and it's dropped significantly more. Discuss...

yes, Older, the public forums.

we have lost another couple hundred points today. i am supposed to recieve a statement
about my 401k soon. this is why it's important to me, as i'm mid 40's and my investments
are my house and my retirement plan.

everything else in this thread is is needless melodrama compared to some harsh realities . . .

This thread has more tangents than a geometry class.

Always wanted to use that.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you will have $49.00 today.
If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have $33.00 today.
If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago, you will have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you will have received a $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon!

Heart, you are just full of investment advice, aren't you?

It's scary just how much of our monetary wealth is based on nothing more than emotion. If you are invested in anything other than underneath your mattress, then all it takes is panic on the part of lots of people who you don't even know to make the bottom fall out.

It's not how far you fall that matters; it's how high you bounce, baby DJIA +778 last time I checked

Dow 9,387.61 +936.42 (+11.08%)
NASDAQ 1,844.25 +194.74 (+11.81%)
S&P 1,003.35 +104.13 (+11.58%)

I'll take these numbers. Hopefully in a couple of years, I'll be back to where I was.

Same here, Sting. But LOL at everyone who sold off near the end of the fall last week. I'm guessing there will be some profit-taking tommorow, but hopefully this is a sign of generalized improvement.
