Well my phone service is 19.99 a year now. Plugged the USB device into my computer, added a 3 handset cordless unit into it and cant tell the difference. My cable provider has the same service for 12 times the cost but I went for the Magic Jack. I cant tell the difference over the hard wired land line. NO long distance charges!

The unit and first year will run around 43 dollars. Renewal is 19.99 a year.

You could buy a new computer every year with the savings. No more AT&T for me!

wow I just started with Vonage back in June. I've been off line with ATT land line for over 4 years. That product looks really good though. I think I'm locked in for a year though unless I want to pay for the modem.

Thanks for the link Medi

I wish I could get away from my land line. I'm in the outer banks and cannot receive cable. :-(

Do you have DSL? I've got a dry (no phone) dsl line. I use Packet 8 as my voip provider. Good combo so far.

No cable where I live even though I'm only a 1/2 mile from town.

Cable stinketh anyways... At least in terms of their Bandwidth limitations. AT&T is starting to test the Bandwidth limitations for DSL as well.

E911 is setup. Not to mention we have two cell phones in the house. My work cell phone and wife's personal phone.

I'm not worried about it at all.
