If you ever needed a reason to write to your local politician, here's one now: An end to the 22nd Ammendment to the United States of America.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:hj5:

For those that don't know, the 22nd ammendment reads as such.

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

In a nutshell, shortly after the end of World War II, over 3/4th of congress decided that it was a good idea to limit the number of terms that a president can serve to two terms each. After all, 8 years is a long time to lead one of the most powerful nations in the world. Not to mention, the last time that a new person became president, the preceding president, FDR, died after searving over 3 terms.

However, now there are plans to undo all that. as of January 6th, 2009, three-fourths of congress will be able to make that all go away.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=hj111-5

And for those that don't know or don't believe; I, KayJay, wrote this. The sources are real sites, and real people. Granted when this was written Obama was days from being inagurated, I don't write this because of him or my policital beliefs about him. I write about this cause it's a stupid idea to take limits off how many times any single person can become president.

Do the research. Think about the topic. AND FOR CRIMNEY SAKES DO SOMETHING!!!! Write your congressman, newspaper, make your voice heard!!!

Last two times I heard of someone trying to remove term limits it was Putin in Russia and Chavez in Venezuela. Fine company for Obama to be in the presence of if a bunch of numbnut libs want to repeal the 22nd Amendment. However, I do not see that it is Obama that is proposing the change. What is laughable is how they are doing it before they have even seen what the guy can do. Talk about "Faith".

"The (Democratic) Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. ... We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?" --George Orwell, "1984" - And if you have not figured that out by now with Obama in office, there is no hope.

I guess I don't get your point, any idiot can make an amendment proposal. But looking at the second link it shows that it was introduced but has not been reported by committee or voted on by the house or senate. Many political hacks make stupid proposals just to get their name on a bill knowing it will never pass. They do it just to get their name recorded because people tend to remember a name but forget what it was associated with.

thx for pointing out the typo bif. fixed.

It doesn't matter who the soon-to-be president is. If it was McCain, I would still say the same thing.

As for talking about politics and religion, such abstract thoughts are excersise for the mind. Since when is mental excersise not allowed?

Term limits are useful for preventing consolidations of power and lingering corruption. Given that people voted the likes of Ted Kennedy repeatedly into office for decades tells a lot. Term limiting Congress is not a bad idea as well. It also

We have voter imposed term limits here in California for the legislature and it is amazing how much the more liberal members fight against it by continually proposing changes to the term limit law. It happens to be the same ones who are most interested in social welfare which is used as a lever to buy votes. They were also annoyed that the voters This is the basic: power corrupts principal.

Quite frankly, welfare and government subsidies have done much damage to this country. It creates a classic conflict of interest where the one promising the most kick back gets the vote. A strong reform of the tax code to make is straight forward and simple and a complete elimination of entitlements, welfare, and subsidies along with the reversal of the current trend to nationalize the private sector (Bank and Auto Bail out) would be shocking, but go a long ways towards shrinking government's power and infringements over the private lives of the Citizens of this country. All unionization of Civil and Public servant positions should be abolished. This too creates a strong conflict of interest leading to abuses of power and should serve as a reminder that working for the government is not meant to be a fall back in case you can’t make it in the private sector. Example: De-unionizing Public School Teachers would go a long way towards improving Public School Education since merit based pay and the freedom to fire underperforming teachers will bring in more highly qualified teachers into the system (a B.A. or M.A., or PhD does an effective or qualified teacher make) and thus make it possible for interested students to learn as well as better facilitate an environment for students to be interested in learning.

I think a little politic discussion is ok. The big election is over and that was causing all the issues. Hopefully we can stay calm now.
What do you think?

If someone does not want to discuss the problems in this country they must be one of the ones that listen but do not hear and look but do not see. LOL they come out of the wall when free speech is exercised and your right allowed.

The only fix is that the people of the country have got to say stop and take the country back. If we punish the politician that is corrupt the others will stop. If not, punish them all and start over.

You will need to make a example of about 20 or so.

In Charlotte, they say that you can not arrest yourself out of the problem. They don't go after anyone unless they have used a deadly weapon. I want a job like that. What a place to live.

My truck has been broken into 2 times and they tried to steal it and my trailer with $14k of equipment. Not one car came out to investigate. The woman had a 5 gal gas can with 3 gals of gas stolen out of here garage and 8 police cars came to help. Beats the heck out of me.
