I know one or two other OMO play or played this at one point. It is a great game (I play it the most out of any other game at present and my kids love it as well - my daughter's cunning is scarring me). The Sword of the Stars Ultimate gets you the original game plus both expansions - Born of Blood and A Murder of Crows. I'll Frap some of the game play at some point.

Anyways... it is available from:
Impulse
or
Steam

From either: $29.99

Also, there are mods for this game, like a Battlestar: Gallactica mod

It has a Multiplayer side (kids and I have a lan game on hold until we are done moving to Fresno). The only draw back is that any multiplayer match will take a couple days at least to complete. The up-side is, however, that you can leave an active game letting the AI take over for you for, until you are ready to jump back in.

The AI is actually pretty good as AI's go and you can tell it to be aggressive, defensive, or balanced in your absence.

I played the livin' cr@p out of SOTS and Born of Blood(I have a nice photobucket selection of screenies... check the forums), but in the multiplayer it was too hard to get the same players to meet to continue/finish a game. I was able to get others to join in a few times to finish someone's game, but that is not the same.

I would like to see the Crows, but I have recently been assimilated into EVE. Resistance WAS futile. I made it almost 6 years before being drawn in.

But, I would HIGHLY recommend the SOTS series to anyone who ever liked Homeworld but wanted more. This is Homeworld's great-grandchild. If you have smokin' video and pause to close in, the ships are very very nice.

get it, play it, live it.

Blue, if you have two comps you can play SotS and EVE at the same time... given travel times, it may be saner.
