I've got an ASUS P5E X38 775 mobo with two 1 gig ballistic sticks in already. Will these two additional 2 gig ballistic sticks (for a total of 6 gig) work?

What flavor of Operating System are you running Nose? Try running CPUID. You should match as closely as possible. You may even wanyt to take out the current ones and just put in 2 new ones.

32 bit, I don't think so. I believe you need a 64 bit operating system to utilize more than 2-3 gig of ram.

"The (Democratic) Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. ... We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?" --George Orwell, "1984" - And if you have not figured that out by now with Obama in office, there is no hope.

You can go 4GB, but the your vid card mem is subracted from that to get your total usuable RAM. I had 4GB in my Vista 32 system and a GTX260 w/ 896MB. My usuable RAM was 3.2 GB. So you're better off taking out the old 2 and adding the new 2, if you decide to buy them. Also, thru tomorrow, or as long as supplies last, you can get the Windows 7 upgrade for $50. Then you would get the full benefit of the 4GB, 6GB, or what ever else you might add.

Yep, 4gig cap on 32 bit, minus your shared memory (video card, etc). One big reason to got to 64 bit for sure!
