I suggest re downloading the client for File Planet, as the new one doesn't require patching.
quote: Aug 18 2009 Update on Patching Issues Posted by Rekhan
If you're still having issues patching Champions Online, we've updated the FilePlanet client with the latest version of the game. If you download the latest version from FilePlanet, you won't need to patch and will be able to log into the game immediately. Thanks for your patience as we iron out these remaining bugs and get ready for launch!

I finally got it to load, they weren't joking about the character customization! I'm probably going to make a zillion toons!
Currently I made one called "LAN Shark" techo fish out of water, pretty funny.

Very cool stuff!
I have a toon called BunnyVonBloedig right now. May make another one tonight too. Takes a bit to get use to controls, but very cool stuff. Can't wait to try PvP.

No trial, this is the pre release "beta" they are doing for File Planet / IGN subs and those that pre ordered the game.

so the way to find people is with their @ name. If you have the @ name you will see any of their toon if they are on line. Petri and I found each other and had a dual that was fun! No one won cause Petri didn't know how fast he can move and he left the area. lol
Anyway, I have 3 people added now and please add me to friends list using @bloedig

Looks like this could develop into a OMO thang. I'll wait until the release as I just bought Warhammer Online on Amazon for $14.95. That will keep me busy through most of Beta.
Fossil, if you have anything to reccommend to get me going in Warhammer, let me know. What server were you on?

Speaking of other MMOs: the power customization in City of Heroes is sweet. That is definitely something Champions Online does not have at this time.

Ha , I just un installed it to make room for this one. War hammer is fun bit it's a hella grind, just like all of them. Dark craig is where I had my main, but I can't remember the rest. Here's my main Iron Breaker, level 40.

Bright wizards are glass canons, very high DPS but low health. Iron breakers are tough as nails, and can send enemy's flying! but medium DPS. War priest are damn fine healers. Slayers take a bit of getting used to but are great melee dps. elves are all poo.
Chopper orcs are great on the destruction side. and squig herders are very fun. Wish you had got it a year ago...
Champions has some growing pains but man do I love getting a travel power at level 5!!!
after you get past the the first two zones an up to level 9 the game opens up alot, the crafting is a bit clunky but the fighting is nice. I haven't done' pvp yet but they'll be more once the game goes live.

Thanks for the info. Yaah, a year ago I wanted to play it too, but my clunker of a comp I had back then couldn't handle the intro video, no less the game itself.
Likely worth paying you to reload the game and get a month just to talk you into some starter money. Ok, maybe not.
I'm always a game or two behind. Why change now.

CoL has great style. So cool seeing so many different toons running around. It's far deeper than just costumes too. The ability to control almost every aspect of making your toon makes for some wild stuff.
The combat system is very cool too. The action is fast and with all the transportation methods, auto shot (builds energy for your crit shots) and blocking, you end up with tons of options.
The craft thing is a bit clunky, but easy enough and seems more in it's place as a "side venture".
Quests are pretty good and they seem to do a nice job of moving you forward in the game. Some quests are pretty annoying because of the group aspect (i.e. the Ferd Tough quest) and people are kinda hard to group with (most don't ever group). That will change with the full game I would think.
All in all I think the game will do very well and will have some staying power.
