Ok here is what happened I turned on the comp and it hung up loading win xp pro, I did a forced shut down and everything turns on but no load screen, I have checked everything from vid card to ram but nothing. I can get into the bios but not windows so I am at wits end and needless to say I will not be online untill I have fixed it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't know for sure what is wrong with yours, but The same think happened to mine and a friend came over and went thru it and found 2 viruses (Bad Ones) and my computer was on the verge of crashing. He Isolated them and then deleted them and used Revo uninstaller to make sure that they were gone and I mean all files and such.

This revo uninstaller took care of all the files when you uninstall a program but some things are left. My comp flies now. Anyway. My Anti Virus did not catch the viruses, he had to go in and search for them.

Hope you get whatever taken care of. It is a pain when you need to go kill something and can't play :o)

I'm leaning toward a bad/corrupt XP install at this point. Hit F8 or F5 (can't remember which one) to bring up the load menu. See if you can start up in safe mode.

If you can load up in safe mode, I'd restore to a previous restore point and hope for the best.

If not, do you have a second hard drive? Unplug your current drive and see if you can get XP loaded unto the second drive (assuming you have install disc).

try plugging the hard drive in on another port. Either that, or try booting from a USB device and use your external case. see if that works.

That happened to me the other day on my new machine. After farting around with it a little bell went of saying...."try booting with the Vista Cd." I did and it booted. Ran a complete, thorough virus scan, ran Adaware, then ran Driver Detective to update all my stuff. Haven't had any other issues..

Bypass when you say your screen went black are you saying even your initial power up screen is black also? Could it be your monitor is bad?

Peace

No the monitor is fine I also tried my extra monitor and nothing. When it went black according to the MB lights it was hanging at loading windows but the MB spash screen was also not coming up but I did manage to get into the bios and tried to reset it to original factory settings but that didn't work.

I also tried a reformat but it wouldn't recognize that a disk was in, got word back from the shop and he says something in the bios was screwed up I will get a better explaination when I pick it up tomorrow yay then the Bypbutt will rock again. Spec pluuuuueeeeeessss facebook ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I watch my wife play that farming game it makes my eyes bleed from the speed lol. Gink where ya been hiding my brother its nice to see you post hope to see you in game sometime.

Well guys... my gaming PC is dead also. I'm pretty sure it is the motherboard as I've replaced the power supply, BIOS, CPU, and RAM... I've disconnected everything to ensure I didn't have a device shorting out... no go. I can't get the machine move past the ABIT POST... so it won't even get the Phoenix BIOS.

So I'm tring to find a replacement board as I can't afford an I7 system at this point in time. The board I was using was an ABIT AW8-MAX. If anyone has an old intel based 955x chipset board I'd be willing to take it off your hands.

Nope! I do have two mobo available, but I believe one of them is suspect. They're both AMD 939s.
