This will be the official Company of Heroes Online thread. As moderator of all things Real Time Strategy I deem it worthy.
Also, yesterday I started a guild to include all OMO and BCO players in the game. The Guild is called Ancient Warrior. I would have made it Old Men Online but given we have BCO friends playing alongside us, I chose a name that fit us all. Wear your BCO/OMO tags in your commander names if you want. The Guild Cost Me 10,000 supply!!!!!! OUCH!

Let's Get Ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to some games tonight guys. Also, I would encourage everyone to spend a few minutes browsing the Company of Heroes Online Website. There is useful information regarding the various Commander trees. Looking at the Allied tree is equally important to develop counters. The forums are also a good place to find information.
http://www.companyofheroes.com/
Also the Gamereplays site has a wealth of information about Company of Heroes. It is currently only info about the original game but it directly transfers to Company of Heroes Online and has a TON of strategies that apply. Check out the Strategy section and forums.
http://www.gamereplays.org/companyofheroes/
This is the Axis strategy section.
http://www.gamereplays.org/companyofheroes/portals.php?&show=page&name=wehrmacht_strategies
Here is a small section of an article from gamereplays that gives you a taste of the kind of info available:
Rifleman vs Volksgrenadiers
Riflemen carry M1 Garands, or the M1 for short. The M1 is a semi-automatic rifle with a quick reload time. Volksgrenadiers carry Kar 98k rifles, often abbreviated as K98s, which are bolt action and have to reload much more frequently. A single Rifleman has 55 hitpoints, while a Volksgrenadier has 60. Riflemen come six in a squad; Volksgrenadiers have five in a squad. All that technical mumbo jumbo means one thing: Rifles beat Volks up close, and lose to them at range. Assuming equal cover, both sides starting off at full health, and both squads stationary, a Rifle Squad will win at close range in a one on one fight with a Volksgrenadier Squad. However, it will lose at long range. Company of Heroes is a game of random numbers and chances, so a Rifle Squad still has a small chance of losing at close range (and winning at long range!); but for the most part, Rifle Squads do better than Volksgrenadier Squads at close range and worse at long range. Obviously, this only applies to completely un-upgraded, un-vetted units.
Now, this is not an open invitation to charge headlong right up to a Volksgrenadier Squad. If a Volksgrenadier Squad remains stationary, in cover, and a Rifle Squad charges them, nine times out of ten the Rifle Squad takes too many casualties on the charge in and will lose the battle. However, if a Volksgrenadier Squad can be caught capping a point, moving, or doing something else, like building barbed wire, it's a perfect opportunity to charge right up to them and take them out. Keep in mind that if a Volksgrenadier Squad backpedals or runs away they only fire half the time. So if they start running away from a Rifle Squad, they're not going to be doing full damage. The pursuing rifle squad will then be doing a great deal of damage them for relatively little in return. Keep in mind that they might be running back into the cover of a machine gun.

It looks like the open beta is almost totally complete and the game is finished. Remember that the game is Free and thus an incredible deal. Relic/THQ have planned to make their money via micro payments for those who don't want to earn their unlocks and heroes but none of this is necessary. Anyone is welcome to join us our group to play. No experience needed.

Here is a video cast of a Company of Heroes 1vs1 game for those who are not sure what the game is like and how it plays. It starts out a little slow with some explanation and is in 4 parts.

I can't wait until the next patch when the replay feature is added to the game. Recording and rewatching the game/battle really helps improve play.

Cool update! Well, at least i got to retrain for free. I feel the update has caused a ripple in the fabric of the game? My whole 4 player team scored 10% of the usual. Ive averaged about 2000 per game but after the update its more like 200. Strange.

It will take a different approach. Relic has made some of the units in Company of Heroes Online similar to the way they are in VCoH (Vanilla Company of Heroes). This is not a bad thing but it will force some changes. Germans players have to play with intention. Mixing troops is a must. Germans don't have a unit that does everything well. Armor must be supported with infantry. Heavy MGs must support your Volksgrenadier, Grenadiers, Stormtroopers, and Knights Cross. Playing German just got harder but not impossible.
The biggest change in this patch is that the American Riflemen are back to the level they were in the original game. NEVER LOSE a squad to riflemen. They gain veterancy by killing german units as do all American units but Riflemen can do everything well. (Germans buy their Veterancy.) Hence, if you can't win the fight retreat. (Sooner than later.) Even losing a few men in a squad is bad. Every man you lose just brings them closer to the next level of veterancy. At level 3 they will almost be god like.
Riflemen Squad
* Grenades, Sticky Bombs and BARs now each give Riflemen an additional 5% to experienced earned. * Veterancy 1 accuracy bonus has been increased from 15% to 25%. * Veterancy 1 received accuracy bonus has been increased from 10% to 20%. * Veterancy 3 accuracy bonus has been increased from 10% to 20%. * Veterancy 3 damage bonus has been increased from 35% to 50%.

I played my first real live game last night as Americans so I could play against the Germans and for faster game pops. I was the only level 1 hehe. How do you advance the the differn't tiers? I had enough to advance but it was an option till later, so I guess what I['m asking is what triggers the advancement to the later tiered buildings so I can roll out tanks and what not.

You have to build a supply yard(the flat)looking building first then you can build a motor pool or tank depot.
At the beginning of the game an American player can build only the barracks and/or Weapons Support Center. Here is a list of what can be built out of each structure.
Barracks: Jeep and Riflemen Weapons Support Center: MG's, Snipers, Mortar teams Weapons Support Center: M8 armored car, Halftrack, 57MM Anti-Tank gun Tank Depot:M10 Tank Destroyer, Sherman Tank, Sherman 'Crocodile' Tank with a mounted flamethrower

Yep good advice Studebaker.
Studebaker, I hope to get some games in Saturday and Sunday with you if you are around.
In case everyone doesn't remember, Studebaker is our real German player and thus you have to play during the day to catch him online given the time difference. The cool thing is you can ask him how to say all the German names in the game correctly! Nice!
Demon really needs to hang out with Studebaker more as Demon's German is terrible! LOL
