Probably too slow for most you RTS guys, but I find it amazing and very addictive to play. Not sure how MP works in terms of length of a game, but SP is great and takes hours and hours.

Graphics are great and sound/voice acting is good. Game play is pretty easy to learn, but hard has hell to really master.

If your into turn based strat games, this one is maybe the best ever.

Played Alpha Centauri before, which I enjoyed. Turn based games are fun but do take a lot longer to play out.
Ever played Space Empires IV or V or Sword of the Stars, Bloody?

Nope. I have played a few turn base strats in the past, but nothing as good as this one. Have to keep my eye open for those others (although, a big part of the fun of Civ has been the history and references to the real world).

Hey Bloody,

I played Sid Meierīs civilization 1 on the mac and it was a great game at this time. I tried later versions along the line on the PC and allways found myself watching the computer opponent making its turn and it took so long later in a game that I gave up on it 8 years or so ago.
Hopefully this one will be at a better performance level. But still a very fun game.

cheers

The original Civ game kept me up way, WAY past my appropriate bedtime. It was the original "just one more turn" game.

I might pick up the newest version just because I've genrally enjoyed the other ones.

The thing that gets me is, Is that Sid Meier clever or what? He keeps remaking the same game...5x and counting, and it still sells like hotcakes. Sure each one has some improved graphics and the tech trees, etc. change a bit, but really...it's still the same game.

OMG!!! Could it be that it's just that the game itself is good and why mess with it? I wish they'd do that with some other old games, just shine them up and don't tinker too much.

It's why I've been waiting for them to stop expanding on the Civ series before buying it.
