My initiation. HW1. Three OMO and me. They say it will be a free-for-all to test my abilities. I had an inkling that this would be a bit more than that, so I started making salvagers, but keeping them docked. I rushed to cloaks and gravwells while they harrassed me.
I sneak a cloak out, then a 2nd. While they take turns cloaking each other I sneak a gravwell out into the cloak field.
By now it is plain to all that this is not a free-for-all so I type in chat "thank you sir.. may I have another". Everyone laughs and I know I am in.
Then it happens.
All three of them jump in with multiple frigates and a destroyer or two if I recall.
Gravwell on.
They are stuck in jump halfway through and hangin'.
Deploy the largest wad of salvagers they had seen.
Scoop their ships.
Use them against them.
Golf claps all around.
The gravwell died eventually and they won of course, but it was epic to see.

Mechwarrior - The Day of the Streetsweeper
I wanted the max damage one could possibly squeeze in a Mech. Something with crappy highway mileage but excellent in the city for a change.
It took a while but I found it. A Daishi with three Clan LBX-20 in the torso, and a Clan LBX-10 on each arm. Those are uber-shotguns to those who do not know. I had to use the smallest engine and almost no armor, but the numbers looked good.
It was the map with the fortress in open with one side coming uphill and other side spawning and coming down. Poptart paradise.
I spawn at bottom and start waddling. OMG it's slow. I pray no one shoots me and sees my glass jaw until I get into the fort. I make it in.
I find my corner and shut down.
A Medium and two Assaults approach with no clue.
I power up as the Medium rounds the corner. I swear to this day you could sense the surprise as the Medium stands straight up and starts reversing.
Volley.
I blew that Mech right down the street in front of his two friends before they could get around the corner. He was sliding and all wadded up. He regains his feet as the 10s recharge.
Poof. he's gone.
People are going nuts in chat. Laughing like mad.
The 20s are online and an Assault is in my face.
He's down on the ground tangled in his buddy with a leg/crotch shot of three 20s at opt range.
I backup until all guns are ready then vape his buddy who had some damage to chest.
Now with blast damage and bad leg, the last assault goes poof with a full volley and the set of 10s later.
It took longer to read than it did to happen.
Three kills in a row in public notice. A new Mech was born in my barn.
Once people saw me in it a few times though, they knew to stay away. I could teach anyone the Streetsweeper Lesson, but it usually took only one session.

lol, those are great stories...as far as mechs I got a sore thumb, meaning I couldn't close it all the way, from the constant firing. That was what? 3-4 years ago. I just now got full range back in my thumb, lol. Guess it's time to pull it out again..

I think i was #8. 8 players, 7 vs me. Took a while to get me i recall. Long ago but never forgotten. Best of times.

Still remember playing a 3v3 in IC vs Retread, Vintage and I can't remember the other, my two pug "allies" get rushed and die, and I try to backdoor their bases with water creatures. It's what inspired me to want to join OMO, I owe a lot to the IC guys, shame i've lost contact with most of them.
Still have all the replays from IC, were good times, if so so long ago :<

Geeze, i barely remember my initiation, but it was Homeworld, and of course a FFA, meaning everyone dog piled me, for whatever reason i did not expect it till it was to late, they killed everything i built, then backed off and took my mothership out with 1000 little stingingbiting insects called scouts...pretty humiliating lol. great fun, guess everyone has about quit playing, i do a little Black ops on the Wii at times but thats about it,i havbe not seen an OMO in a game in years.
