Thought I'd shake the dust off this forum for you.
NFS is now online and free.
They plan to go the "micro-transaction" route to make money but you don't have to pay a dime if you don't want to.
It's a fun little time waster and I bet it would be a blast with friends.

I'm sure a wheel would be great, but I've been mouse and keyboarding it and it works fine.

Just to make clear...We have reinstated Festus-OMO back as a regular and are happy to have him TRY and keep us alive on the boards. It's been a long time, but the light was left on. Since we are so weak, I know we can bend the "rules" on dual membership.
LOL no time Festy, I got life kickin' my tail these dayz, but thanks for the offer to race and chat it up. I still have TS3 on my desktop, although I'm sure I gotta update.

Jeez, you people really have to get out more.
To paraphrase Groucho Marx "I refuse to join any club that would let me back in". My guys alrady use me as an example of "anyone can get into our club if we don't pay attention".

Are you guys sure that you aren't into Zombie themed stuff like Left 3 Dead etc? Cus your website is like a zombie, it keeps rising up from the dead and it just won't die.
Aloha geezers, I'm off to Honolulu for 10 days (7 of which your website will probably be down).

When is EA going to figure it out? Do you guys remember MotorCity Online? It was EA's first attempt at a MMO driving game and it was loosely based on the Need for Speed franchise. It came out in 2001 about the time I join OMO. At the time I was heavy into doing betas and was involved. Most of the beta testing team told EA they were making a mistake but they wouldn't listen. Anyway they made EXACTLY the same mistakes all over again.
I'm glad NFS Online has moved to free-to-play but I doubt it will retain a large enough base to keep it going for long. It's too bad really. A good racing / driving sim MMO would be great. I guess there is always iRacing.com altho that is a bit to challenging for me. It's like when we were playing the NASCAR series and trying to get up in the ranks except you have to be really serious to make any headway.

I still have NASCAR loaded on my comp. I pull it out now and then. What's really amazing is back in the day my comp would barely keep up with it. Everything was set on low and the lag was tough sometimes. Now with mynew machine, everything on high, great framerates, sound. It's really quite cool. I'm with ya Arcane, be nice if somethinglike a good MMO would be great..

A very good free racing game is Heat On-Line. It's in open beta and is actually the old Project Torque. Several of us from the racing team i'm on play most nights. We play the Thunder Alley mode which is nascar style tracks and in htat mode Heat On line is better than Project Torque so give it a try.
I race under -=NNC=-Old Coot with the NNC team [No Name Clan]

Yes you can use the Keyboard however it depends on the person. I could never drive with a keyboard but can do well with a joystick. I have friends that are very fast with a keyboard, but for me I use a Thrustmaster F430 Wheel.

I know Aged is still lurking in WoW. Don't know if he would be interested in coming back to the group again. Would be nice to hear from him again.

No wheel needed here. Ive been playing Dirt 2 a lot lately. I think its more fun than all of em. Plus friends can open rooms to race in, change tracks every round and let the public in if you want. It has a demo on Steam. I can do some NFSW too!
