I’ve been waiting for this game to come out ever since I quit wow; there haven’t been any suitable substitutes since then. I like the MMOG genre more than FPS, they’re so much deeper than any other game type to IMO. True there’s a monthly fee involved but the 2 years I played WoW I never bought another game so I figured I saved money!
Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures release date is May 20th if you preorder May23rd if you don’t. FYI you get a free mammoth if you get the collectors addition!
I had been debating between WAR and AoC but after looking at all the reviews and videos I have to give it Conan, it’s just so real looking like Oblivion real looking if you ever played that game. The environment is dark dirty and nasty, it’s going to be a M rated MMOG the first I’ve heard of, it’s suppose to be catered exclusively for adults but you know the kids will get it anyway.
The violence is pretty intense from what I’ve seen so far here’s a demonstration.

There are 3 types of races
Cimmerian (like Conan Germanic in appearance) Aquilonian ( Roman like) Stygian (Egyptian like) Here are the classes http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi?func=publish.show&func_id=1084&table=PUBLISH&template=news_features_game&selected=1084
From what I understand on the pvp servers it’s a free for all, you can kill anybody your race or not outside the safe zones. How to stay safe is by being in a Guild and forming alliances. Once you get up in level you can build Guild cities, there can only be 9 cities in the designated area. So guess what? If you belong to a guild that doesn’t have a city you go out and try to take it away from the weakest guild. Check out some of the videos that I’m going to link, there are huge siege battles that involve hundreds of players.
Warning turn down the music… http://youtube.com/watch?v=zBF3QUg4Bu0&feature=related
There is also barroom fighting, in the NPC cities there are bars that you can go in have a drink and kick the crap out other players no matter what the level difference.
I’ve read a lot of the Conan comics over the years and a few of the knock off Conan novels shying away from the Robert Howard books thinking that they would be too dated. I heard they were really good so I went to the library got a few, WOW was I ever wrong, even though he wrote them in the late 20’s and early 30’s they still hold up quite well! They’re only dated in one aspect, they’re definitely not PC they’re pretty racist and sexist! Not that I mind that much but today’s authors never come close to going there.
One last video it’s long but good

Game looks really good, May 20th can’t get here fast enough!

Posted - Jan 13 2009 : 17:28:44 AoC had tons of potential but fell flat on it's buggy face in the end.
The most "pretty" MMO I've seen but looks aren't everything. The melee combat was awesome especially when you got a crit!
But the spawn camping and the CTD in the end was just too much to handle.
WAR is by far the better game as far as far as PvP goes. Stick to WoW if PvE is your thing though.
The old Republic will probably be my next MMO as well Perri, how many years till release though?

Posted - Jan 13 2009 : 15:28:15 LOL, my wife wishes I was still playing AoC, as I have been spending almost all my free time doing Photo Shop Tutorials, and some of the subjects are real nudes. lol No, she really could care less.
Anyway, the server mergers may be the only thing to save the game on the PVE side. The PVP RP server we played on for the majority of the time was pretty populated, but when I went and played PVE on SET for a while it was sad. You would run into another player about every 15 minutes. Just sad.
I wish that Warhammer had held some interest for me, as I miss the MMO gaming, but it just was not of interest at all when I played the beta/demo. Hope that the next big MMO comes out soon. |

Posted - Jan 13 2009 : 12:15:21 I did enjoy playing it. The main issue was that there was nudity in the game and my wife would throw a hissy fit. Heck, she throws semi hissy fits over City of Heroes and that mainly due to skimpy clothing. For me to pick up another game with skimpy clad women would be cause for a riot.
Warhammer is tame compared to AoC's 'revalations'. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 21:05:10 Any one that has registered at the new BCO site and wants into the AoC forums and you don't see them towards the bottom of the forum list, please send a request to join the group (instructions on the top of every thread and post) We have a few OMO's registered, but some I don't know if they want in on the AoC forums or not.
Also, we have the ability to do YouTube videos in our posts, so if you find anything AoC and post worthy, please do so. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 19:55:08 Was reading the PVP Q&A page and it said that along with the battle keeps there will be towers that smaller guilds can take over and maintian. They are not as valuable as the keeps but still offer bonuses and have much lower upkeep cost. I say we go for one of those.
Necro not good in PvP? Shrug. I like a challange. I will prob start a lot of classes and lvl up a few. I am also a big fan of crafting and will have a lot of time to play. Whatever crafting type that is the most time intensive and most needed I am willing to do. I dont think I will play until it launches. I am into CoH with my GF right now so its keeping me buisy. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 17:36:25 I bet it did. LOL. You will be just fine. Maybe have to set a bit lower than the highest levels, but still fine. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 17:15:03 I have a 8500GT Nvidia, It's well with in the range of what they require. It sure made a difference when I upgraded to it from my 6800 in CoD4 |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 16:45:16 Yeah Fosssil, I think you should be fine. COD4 is pretty hefty, so if you can run that you should be OK on AoC. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 16:09:28 I'm worried about my CPU, I have P4 3.4 so I might have to lower the setting quite a bit. It runs CoD4 just fine even though CoD4 recommends a faster CPU. If it's too much of a problem I might not be able to play, I can't shell the money for one now. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 15:53:02 Well I spent my lazy Sunday afternoon reinstalling Vista 64 and SP1, all went very well I must say. I wish MS would just keep updating SP1 so we don't have to update 50 or more files, sure made the install much easier.
AOC is supposed to be enhanced for DX10 and 64 bit processors yet it still seems to be a 32 bit game, not sure how that works.
Either way AOC is installed and ready to go on my vista drive. From what I've read, my rig should be able to play with everything on high. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 13:37:29 LOL,
Stingray, learn from the masters (Fossil, Petri, etc). I only played 4 months or so of WoW and it did take a bit to learn the lingo and all. |

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 09:20:32 It's like you guys are talking a foreign language, not sure I can get into this game. Do they have a G3 semi auto or SAW 249?

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 08:15:53 We should all roll assassins for Alts and have a gank night once a week! There is a few people in the murder herd I wouldn't mind dispatching. |

That's exactly why I really am looking forward to this game. WoW is cool and all, but the click attack thing got a bit boring. I actually hope that I'm better at this system, as it's more FPS style (for an MMO at least). I'm just worried about getting ganked at every corner in the PVP-RP servers. lol
Getting ganked is half the fun - especially if you set it up so the ganker becomes the ganked. |
