I’ve been waiting for this game to come out ever since I quit wow; there haven’t been any suitable substitutes since then. I like the MMOG genre more than FPS, they’re so much deeper than any other game type to IMO. True there’s a monthly fee involved but the 2 years I played WoW I never bought another game so I figured I saved money!

Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures release date is May 20th if you preorder May23rd if you don’t. FYI you get a free mammoth if you get the collectors addition!

I had been debating between WAR and AoC but after looking at all the reviews and videos I have to give it Conan, it’s just so real looking like Oblivion real looking if you ever played that game. The environment is dark dirty and nasty, it’s going to be a M rated MMOG the first I’ve heard of, it’s suppose to be catered exclusively for adults but you know the kids will get it anyway.

The violence is pretty intense from what I’ve seen so far here’s a demonstration.

There are 3 types of races

Cimmerian (like Conan Germanic in appearance)
Aquilonian ( Roman like)
Stygian (Egyptian like)
Here are the classes

From what I understand on the pvp servers it’s a free for all, you can kill anybody your race or not outside the safe zones. How to stay safe is by being in a Guild and forming alliances. Once you get up in level you can build Guild cities, there can only be 9 cities in the designated area. So guess what? If you belong to a guild that doesn’t have a city you go out and try to take it away from the weakest guild. Check out some of the videos that I’m going to link, there are huge siege battles that involve hundreds of players.

Warning turn down the music…

There is also barroom fighting, in the NPC cities there are bars that you can go in have a drink and kick the crap out other players no matter what the level difference.

I’ve read a lot of the Conan comics over the years and a few of the knock off Conan novels shying away from the Robert Howard books thinking that they would be too dated. I heard they were really good so I went to the library got a few, WOW was I ever wrong, even though he wrote them in the late 20’s and early 30’s they still hold up quite well! They’re only dated in one aspect, they’re definitely not PC they’re pretty racist and sexist! Not that I mind that much but today’s authors never come close to going there.

One last video it’s long but good

Game looks really good, May 20th can’t get here fast enough!

My dad is a big Conan fan, so big, in fact, that my half-brother is named Conan.

Wonder if I bought him a comp and the game if be would play it.

I played on a open PVP server in Asherons Call. It was great. Once you get past the low lvls you find that there is real politics and power plays going on. It can be frustrating at times but I have never gotten the same kind of satisfaction from any other gaming experiance. That PvP server is what I left Homeworld for. Even knowing nothing else about the game I would buy it based on it having a open PvP server alone. Hope to see you all there.

I've done a lot of research on this game and I can't wait till it comes out May 20th. I've joined a huge guild on a RP PvP server and
bought the collectors edition with all the goodies!. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kp5z5UAl44&feature=related

No but the guilds are recruiting hot and heavy right now to get a jump start on the competition. Theres going
to be safety in numbers because of the open PvP and for your Guilds City defense/attacking forces.

I prefer smaller clans. Large clans may better protection from outsiders but they tend to have a lot of internal problems. Would much wrather be a member of small tight knit group out in the hills than part of a large loose group in a city. For larger wars and big battles you can always ally with a larger group.

There seems to be a mercenary element emerging now for people that play like you do, don't want to
associate with larger guilds and the drama they bring. They help out the highest bidder, guilds will pay,
not see their cities destroyed! 48 more days till release!

So.... I need a guild. PM me.

I'll need pointers on smack talking however. Does something like: "hey there, you suck like a rat!" count as smack talk?

Okay I'll PM you with the guild, be be forewarned they'll put you through the ringer during the application process.
They're a little over the top but I like their swagger, I'm curious to see if they can back up their bravado with skilled game play. It's ran by hot little red headed chick but that has nothing to do with why I applied.

what kind of guild is it? RPK, anti, honor or neutral? Are they a established guild or a startup? If we can get 5 or more active OMO's in game I say we just do our own guild. I learned some good recruiting systems in the open PVP server in AC. Ways to get good solid players with the right kind of attitude. I.E. non-cowards. People who are willing to fight and not just join a group for protection.

I'm interested, not in a guild that "puts you through the ringer", but killing people with friends. I'm not interested in being somebody's @55 monkey. I'd definately be interested in a smaller guild like Bugger's describing.

BTW, what do those terms (RPK, etc.) mean?
