Posted - Aug 19 2008 : 17:55:10 The new Relic Warhammer Dawn of War II is going to be released in the near future. I realize that very few OMOs play RTS games anymore but here is the trailer. Worth watching at least. I am sure I will end up playing it.

Posted - Apr 22 2009 : 15:22:53 I had an Ork hit me from various sides as an Eldar and I was toast. I love the orks but I'm better with the eldar.
Petri, one thing you should try is getting some rangers and a Dgun. The gun has limited visibility but the rangers can stealth and get you LOS with your target. Hit the special ability (sorry forgot what is is) and watch the carnage begin!
Rangers are also good against troops in garrisoned in buildings, they have a longer los than other units so you can pick them off with the sniper rifle before they know that hit them. You can use this against other run of the mill supression units as well.
Geezer, Kin needs to switch to decaff...

Posted - Apr 22 2009 : 13:07:13 Definite Eldar weakness:
Weak against melee. High Cost.
I have been getting more and more accustomed to using Warp Spiders and the Warp Spider Exarct. Hit and run or porting in a large attack group to hit behind enemy lines is a wonderful thing. Great suppression units at the start. |

Posted - Apr 22 2009 : 09:11:25 Thanks for the games last night Fossil. Even if though it was a rough series of games I learned some very important lessons. The Orks power is early in the game and slowly diminishes as the game progresses.
Life as an Ork player:
Strengths
* Excel at Melee * Strong Starters * Waagh! bonuses
Weakness
* Weaker at the later tiers * Weaker early suppression * Fragile anti-vehicle units
Now that I know for sure...... Let the games begin! The fact that I am now confident about the Ork's strengths and weakness will allow me to formulate better tactics and strategies. I can't' wait to smash up some Eldar and Space Marines.
You playing tonight Fossil or is Wednesday movie night with the wife? |

Posted - Apr 19 2009 : 15:33:41 I can usually tell If I'm going to like a game or not the first week I buy it. CoD5 didn't make it a week for me, WW2 FPS is so over done. However DoW2 is an awesome RST and I suck at RTS but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. This game really test your mettle in stressful situations, it really gets the "juices" going.
Hope to see you in game Bugger/hivemind, nids are a great race to play along with. |

Posted - Apr 19 2009 : 13:12:59 Old Bugger? Are you talking about Dawn of War II or the original Dawn of War? Dawn of War II has only been out a short time and their is so much to learn and try in the multiplayer matches. We would love to have you join us. We play every night. I will send a friend request out. |

Posted - Apr 14 2009 : 09:38:10 I really enjoyed our games last night Fossil. Tyranid tunneling for troop deployment looks promising. There are an incredible amount of tactics to be explored in this game. I don't think the surface has been scratched. I need to talk to Bloody so we can get a Vent Channel instead of playing "other". Posted - Apr 13 2009 : 16:21:16 Here's something I'd like to try sometime...lifted from another board.
If you are rolling a 3v3 team, the best thing to do is roll an all Tyranid team. Make sure two of you roll Hive Tyrant Heroes, while the third rolls Tunneler. Kick the shit out of the early units together to level up quickly, then work on some upgrades on them down the line. Hive Tyrants work well when they have their increased melee power, as well as the skill that lets them use their energy instead of their health when being attacked.
Tech up as quick as possible, hold about 1/3 to 1/2 of the nodes, with a slightly bigger focus on requisition over power...as power is easy to stockpile in the game after you pop up a defensive structure and three generators. Turtle hard (Spore Mines are cheap friends that do hella damage for turtling teams), and once you've teched up, pump out Carnifax units. Supply them with Thornback, and it's game over for the other team. I came back in a VCP match from 81-500 with a 3v3 Tyranid team, and we won the match with those Carnifax units. They'll eat through any Hero, regardless of level, and you'll be able to keep defense on two VCPs with no problem.
The end.

Posted - Apr 13 2009 : 16:02:38 Gamereplays is one of the best sites for Dawn of War II info. Not to mention, you can download recorded games and watch them. Download replays into your play back folder. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Games\Dawn of War 2\Playback
Next, start up the game and view it through Game History.

Posted - Apr 13 2009 : 15:47:13 I played a bit after you two logged off, wow I played a rank 59 guy and got waxed! I played a few more public matches but I was clearly the weak link. I need to find some tips and tactics to employ so I can at least make a good show of it.

Posted - Apr 10 2009 : 07:43:42 That is the way it should be. I didn't realize you couldn't change your gamer tag once you picked it without paying a fee. Strange, but I guess it is a piracy thing????? I need to get my tag changed. |

Fossil, what is your windows live name so I can add you to my friends list? I am AngryGeezer. Petrified is Ressev and Kinketsu(plays with us) is FunctorArity. I messed up when I made my windows live account and got stuck with AngryGeezer. Ugh. |
