there is a new patch out, 1.08. it has a lot of balance fixes. the most important is that support weapons will now shoot through shields, so the base turtlers are hosed. been playing alot online, and the games are quicker now. also there is a download out to run a dedicated server for up to 8 players.

Nice, thanks Silverback. The near-impenetrable shields were annoying.

I find this group amusing. I don't know if you are really old guys or just 20-somethings under alias.
I am an old guy under alias, playing Ground Control and GC2 with the kids and loving it. Actually there are quite a few adults and older players, but I avoid the grandpa jokes by staying under cover.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that GC2 is a great strategy game for adults...no elves, no magic..just great graphics and exciting units. The recent patch has eliminated the troublesome impenetrable shields and made games shorter and more decisive.
Also, the original Ground Control is still active online and is available for free. Yes, the entire game with missions is being given away, and if you've never played GC you should become acquainted with it. Here is the link. http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/groundcontrol/
So join us in GC and GC2, but don't look for me under LastGasp. I am prominent in the community under a different name. Maybe I'll tell you what it is later.

Its just one of those games that didn't keep my attention.
I never finished the SP, and the early faults of the MP dropped it off the radar.
OMO are stubborn and slow to change, so if GC2 didn't keep their attention early its not going to have a revival now. The only game I have seen them stick with is the original HomeWorld. Mechwarrior and BattleField 1942 have done well by them too.
