Yup. The big, broad-chested, smiling mech we all love - the Atlas. It's such a cheerful chassis. I don't mind being trashed by something that smiles down at you.

Unfortunatly, the hardpoints are fairly... abstract. And that's why, even though it has such a big grin, I frown upon it.

What's the point of this thread? Maybe there isn't one... maybe I'm just pulling your leg... but there IS a point, so I'll get right to it.

As some of you may of guessed already, the Atlas is one of my fav mechs. Unfortunalty, I can't seen to arm it well.

I have two configs at the moment - one long-range, one all-purpose.
The long-range has ERPPC x2, x1 Clan Gauss (2 tons ammo) and x2 CLRM15 (2 tons ammo each), 51kph, lams, iff jammer, and reactive armour... cant remember how many sinks,.. but it's fine for heat. I thought it was alright, but it doesn't seem to hold up very well for some reason.
The all-purpose I just made last night... right now I'm on a laptop, so I may not get the config exactly right. I THINK it's x2 ERPPC, x7 ERMedLasers, x1 CLBX 20 (2 tons ammo), reactive armour, 51kph w/ecm and lams. Can't remember heat sink quanity for this one, either. Anywho, to say the least, this one did not do well at all. I'm gonna try to modify it to be a brawler-ish chassis... but I need some OMO input.

Thank you for yer time.

One last thing - my new MW screen-name is Archangel{WoR}. So if someone by that name screams "OMO OWO w00t w00t!!!!1111oneoneone :D," you know who it is. :)

Personally, I suggest you dump it until they come out with a version they have not nerfed. They screwed many designs with the limited hardpoints, for some rationalized nonsensical reason. Only complaining and not using the bad designs will bring about a better future.

I also seem to recall the Atlas is very easy to target in the head. Big bulbous thing that it is. Just another reason to pass on it.

I rarely use it either, since I know that if you aim to "part its hair" you can usually get kill shots in 2 alphas.

I do have a medium to close range brawler that I ride on occasion and it has (from memory) 3 RAC5s, and 4-6 medium pulse lasers. Throw in a couple of heat sinks, tweak the speed, etc and it can take a target within 500 meters down pretty quickly.

If they would just quit shooting back I wouldn't get so much damage either. :)

Eh, you guys are right about it standing out like a punker at a buisness meeting... but it doesn't matter to me! Mwahaha!

Festus: Just off the top of my head, that would leave little tonnage for ammo(RAC5s) wouldn't it? RACs eat through ammo quite quickly if I remember right...

I either added a ton to each weapon....or I get killed before ammo shortages become a problem

RAC... I hate RACs. Why did they have to add RACs?

I love to pick on the Atlas. DFAs and headshots are great to make on them (especially a head shot followed by a DFA ).

You're all so mean to the friendliest mech around! :( *cries* lol ;p

Yeh, RACs are a pretty mean weapon... a handful on a Daishi can eat up anything... damn Daishies. I frown upon them.

Well, I made up my mind on the brawler. x3clbx10 and x3 IS large lasers. It works alright, so I'm happy. Thankies for yer inputs. :)

On a side note, I meant x5ermed lasers a few posts bak, not 7... and on another side note, I've discovered that ketchup + mashed potatoes = win.

Hurrah for potatoes!
