I made a DVD of the directory for Heatburn... still sitting on my desk in the original package I mailed to myself.
Cool Aged, I love MW and the MPs are nice addons. Heck, my kids love to watch me playing it more than any other game.

I'm like HB. I tried to reinstall everything but never got it to the latest version and gave up.

I think MP3 is something on the order of 30 mechs.

Sooooooo.... lemme see if I got this figured out.
If I wanted to play Mechs with you dudes I would need to:
1. Purchase and install Mech Warrior 4 Mercs.
2. Download and then apply the Microsoft PR1 patch.
3. Download and then apply the Mek Tek Mek Pak MP2.1a patch.
4. Download and then apply the Mek Tek Mek Pak MP3 patch.
Would this have me ready to participate in online multiplay of Mechs? One of you Mech-Heads please advise!

That's pretty much it, Red. MekTek is going to come out with a PR1 to MP3 patch shortly, which will cut out one step. You might want to buy the M$ expansion paks but the MekTek paks have so many good mechs that you will probably never miss the dozen mechs in the M$ paks.

That's pretty much it. You might find that there are some maps you need to download, but it's been a while since I've played and there are some many maps I can't remember which ones were orginal MS ones, one that came with the MekPack or other places. Mercs maps are huge (filesize) by the way.
I tried a few last night. With the sheer number of mechs and weapons, it will be a daunting task to find what works for me among the new stuff.

I will be DLing this tonight.
I decided to not go with the MS MekPacks because of the copy protection that was built into them.

The copy protection issue is moot (relative to the MS mech pack at least) since the copy protection scheme is part of PR1 (the MS patch).
Basically, if you want to play Mercs beyond the original release, you have to deal with C-Dilla.
I've begun making up my "stable" - lights of course. There's some interesting stuff. Watch out for the Marauder II (or something like that) - think Marauder with jump jets. I haven't tried any elementals yet, but they look very interesting. They definately change the tactics. They're small, hard to hit and can be very disruptive (maybe even a bit overpowered - witholding judgement until I try one though).

I always did a foot dance on Elementals when I spotted them in Battletech. They Squish Easily.
Even 20 tons stepping on you in full body armor is ganna make jelly.
The Wasp sounds interesting if it is the one I think it is.

I'm on whatever server has people (as opposed to bots) on it, that isn't NH/UA or packed with people from a single clan - last night I was on old school (and ran into a few old friends).
